Spring Beauty Essentials

Earlier this year I shared some fun ideas for mixing up your Beauty, Skin Care & Make-Up routines for Spring and today I’d like to share what I’m using on a regular basis. Some of these goodies are old standbys and some are new-to-me products that I’m loving so far.

You’ll notice an interesting mixture of brands, I’m slowly working my way toward using 100% eco-friendly, natural & green products but don’t want to be wasteful and throw away everything I’ve bought or been given so it’s a slow process.

Without further ado, here are my Spring Beauty Essentials…

Skin Care:

My skin care routine can be summed up in three words: Cleansing, exfoliating, and moisturizing. I like clean, soft skin and I gravitate towards products that have little or no scent and an immediate effect.

Night Cream – Origins Mineral-Enriched Renewal Cream: This makes your skin feel amazing, my only complaint is that I wish it had a pump!

SPF Moisurizer – First Aid Beauty 5-in-1 SPF 30 Face Cream: I’ve been using this for a few weeks and I like how light it is on my face. I’ve tried a few moisturizers in the past that immediately caused breakouts or visibly oily skin which this does not.

Eye Cream – Ole Henriksen Fresh Start Eye Cream: Bonus? Keep it in the fridge!

Exfoliator – Yu-Be Foaming Skin Polish: I’ve been using this for years and love how smooth my skin is after using it.

Mask – Origins Charcoal Mask, Boscia Luminizing Black Mask & Korres Brightening Sleeping Facial: Ok, I’ll admit it, I’m a bit of a mask junkie. I’ll try any mask but these three are always in rotation.

Cleansing Wipes – Josie Maran: I started using these YEARS ago when they were given to me as a sample at Sephora and I’ve never looked back. They’re amazing for travel and I keep them in my styling kit!

Make-Up:

I prefer to keep my make-up routine simple and quick. Early mornings and long days mean that I need long-lasting, effective products that will keep me looking fresh from my first meeting all the way through my after-work events.

BB Cream –  Tarte Amazonian Clay: I’ve been mixing up what I put on my face in the mornings – Trying different products and new trends (BB, CC…) I’m currently using this Tarte one which I like, but my all time favorite is still the Dior Hydra Life Pro-Youth Skin Tinted Moisturizer. Seriously you guys, this is DIVINE.

Undereye Concealer – Laura Mercier: I’ve been using this duo for years and have never found anything that works as well!

Brow Pencil – Laura Mercier: Eyebrows are incredibly important, they really give your face shape & definition and I love how easy to use this pencil is. I’m dying to try Benefit’s Brows A Go though!

Mascara – Josie Maran Argan Mascara: I love this glossy mascara and usually go back-and-forth between Josie Maran and Benefit’s Bad Gal Mascara.

Eye Liner – Korres & I also love this liquid eyeliner from Stila If you’re new to liquid liner this Stila pen is basically training wheels – I highly recommend giving it a try!

  1. Oh, this is a nice collection Caity. I’ve always wanted to try Origins since I’ve heard so many good reviews about them. As for cleansing wipes, Josie Maran piques my interest a lot. I love the set I bought from Sephora before of her cleansing oil and facial oil, so might give this one a go, too! xx

  2. Josie Maran’s entire line is everything and I have been wondering about that Stila liner.

    xx Cara

  3. Ole Henrikson eye cream’s great! Also, the Stila’s eyeliner sounds tempting. Currently I’m using Shu Uemura’s liquid eyeliner and it’s great =)

  4. This is a wonderful collection Caity, I absolutely love the Dior Hydra Life Po Youth Skin. I’ve been using it for a while and its amazing. Like you I love face masks and I would try any if not all. I’ve been going to Lush to get mine and the deep sea salt one is so good on my skin. It just makes my skin so soft.

And I agree with keeping it simple with make up. I’m still trying to get a make up routine for my mornings. I’m so not a morning person so I never wake up with enough time to put something on. I can wait for Sephora to come to Sydney so I can try all this stuff that I’ve heard about. xx

  5. I’ve never heard about this brand before, but I’d love to try.

I’m feeling exactly the same about my skin during this period of the year and I really prefer organic and natural products.
    love the tips.

While I currently have -$15 in my bank account, I do have all of my essentials, well-stocked. (Am I replying to a super old post? Whatever… I like it)
*Foundation: Chanel Vitalumiere Aqua. Never looked back after trying this stuff.
*Primer: Smashbox Photo Finish. The clear one. Some of the others pill a bit.
*Eyeshadow primer (!!!!!!): Urban decay. The most important makeup item I own.
*Skincare and haircare: Kiehls. All of it. Their straightening balm for hair is the best.
*Liquid eyeliner: Lancome Artliner & Stila’s (Former is more forgiving and quick, while latter is more precise. Plus Stila has a new glittery jet black one out).
*Highlighter: Benefit high beam (often skipped this while living in the south, though…too humid)
*Sunglasses: Dior Jupon 2. Other than my car and my computer, my favorite possession. Well worth half my rent. I think.
