Welcome to the second installation of the Movie Fashion Inspiration series. Did you miss out on the first post? Check out one of my favorite movies of all time – Movie Fashion Inspiration: Charade.
While my personal style may be geared more towards Audrey Hepburn and Jackie O on a day-to-day basis – Think Capri pants, trench coats & oversized sunglasses – I was a huge fan of Grace Kelly growing up.
So much so, that for my 6th grade wax museum – Much to mother’s dismay – I chose to dress up as Grace Kelly from To Catch A Thief for my project. Layered chiffon floor-length vintage dress, elbow-length satin gloves, and a tiara.
I was an odd child.
This movie takes place in Monaco and the costuming is a sumptuous array of sweeping floor-length gowns, stylish suits, and luxurious jewels.
The only thing that could be more beautiful than the clothing and accessories in this movie is the gorgeous scenery. It’s just breathtaking.
In my opinion Cary Grant is the ultimate in menswear – Impeccably cut suits and timeless accessories like fedoras and ascots are the way to go as far as I’m concerned.
This is the epitome of the word ‘classic.’ Whenever I get dressed for a formal event Grace Kelly comes to mind – She’s my go-to inspiration when it comes to gala style.
