Mixing and matching is a time-honored tradition in the fashion industry.
Think pajama-inspired silk oversized silk button-downs paired with boyfriend jeans for the weekend. Denim overalls reminiscent of your childhood uniform paired with crop tops and heels for a night out. Full A-line skirts pulled straight from a 50’s sitcom mixed with a sassy graphic tee and a bold statement necklace.
Fusing the unexpected is what trends are about. And finding the combination that works for YOU – For your body type, for your situation – Is what personal style is all about.

So how does a classically inclined, dress-dedicated woman go about incorporating a sweatshirt into her daily look? First step – Find the right sweatshirt. This retro inspired number is just about perfect – I love the old school insignia emblazoned across the chest, and the color scheme couldn’t be more ideal for me – Black, white & red for the win.
Step two – Mix and match. I considered throwing this baby over a maxi dress but was really taken by the combination of a flirty faux leather skater skirt paired with the classic sweatshirt. It gave the look a fun, and very me, silhouette.
Thank you to UK-based activewear retailer JD Sports for sponsoring this post. They have a great online selection including all your favorite brands, even the Rita Ora for Adidas line that I’ll be sharing some killer leggings from next week!
