Social Fitness & Workout Dates

In recent years I’ve gotten out of the habit of regularly meeting friends for drinks or dinners. Yes, there are occasional exceptions, but in general I try to offer healthy alternatives that won’t derail my week.

While I love a great glass of red and will definitely help you finish off your fries, those evenings always get me off track. I’d rather eat well, exercise, and go to bed early.

Yes, I’m old.

But I also have to wake up early for work, I don’t want to miss out on my workouts, and I’ll feel better tomorrow if I don’t over indulge.

Enter the workout date. I love social fitness because you get the “going out” social aspect and the chance to catch-up with a friend or a group of friends, without the side effects of a night of drinking or eating unhealthy food.

My 2016 Fitness Adventures series with Jill – New post coming at you soon! – Has reminded me just how much fun it is to meet someone for a workout.

After our last 8am Barry’s Bootcamp class, where I finally got to try out the SOMA location, we wandered to the Ferry Building chatting and grabbed a green juice before parting ways. We got our sweat on, started the day on a healthy note, and still had time to talk about work, apartments, cooking, and boys. Oh, and most importantly, plan our next date.

  • Walking to a healthy restaurant or juice bar {In SF I love walking from Telegraph Hill to the Marina for a tasty meal or snack Plant Café}
  • Rock Climbing {This is great for boy-girl workout date!}
  • Yoga // Pilates // Barry’s Bootcamp // TRX // Spin
  • Green Juice/Smoothies

On my To Do List? Indoor surfing and taking a cooking class!
