How I Get Ready For Fall

Getting ready for a new season is important to get the most out of it – So welcome to my How I Get Ready For Fall post!

Closet Reorganizing:

I like to spend a weekend reorganizing my closet at the beginning of each season. A few of the things that I do?

  • Put cold-weather clothes at the front so they’re easier to access
  • Pull specialty pieces out of storage {rain boots, maxi coats etc}
  • See what needs to be dry cleaned, washed, or mended before it can be worn {This is a big one for me since my cats have an infuriating habit of nesting on the bottoms of my coats. So I have to go through and see which ones can be lint rolled, versus which ones need a trip to the cleaners.}
  • Store warm-weather pieces – I have under bed containers that I use for off-season pieces. So when I pull out my Autumn gear, I’ll store the swimsuits, breezy maxis, and bathing suit cover-ups.

Shopping/Selling:

When I do my closet reorg each season, I make a list of things I need/want to complete my wardrobe for that year.

I’ll also start piles for the things that I either didn’t wear in the past year or that I no longer like. Usually three piles – One for nicer things that I can sell one-by-one on Poshmark, one for pieces I’ll send in to Thred-Up or Crossroads Trading, and a third pile for Goodwill or Salvation Army donations.

Dietary Shifts:

Comfort foods, stews & soups, and root vegetables are all hallmarks of Fall. In preparation for these shifts I like to pull out my crockpot and food processor. I’ve found that I’m more likely to make those kinds of recipes if everything is easily accessible.

I lose interest in things pretty quickly when I can’t find the equipment that I need…

Workouts:

I used to only run during the warm-weather months but last year I fell head over heels in love with cold weather running. So while there’s no way I’m going to skip my weekly runs or stop signing up for races, I am going to break out full-length leggings, long-sleeved moisture wicking tops, and running gloves.

Beauty Changes:

Higher moisture is key so I switch up my products to ensure I’m using the creamiest, most luxurious lotions. I also start using masks more often – Hair, eye, lips, and face.

A few of my recent favorites are the Estée Lauder Revitalizing Supreme Light Global Anti-Aging Creme for during the day before my sunscreen and Origins High Potency Night-A-Mins Mineral-Enriched Renewal Cream for nighttime.
