Transition Dressing

Transition dressing and bridging the gap between Summer and Fall can be a challenge. You don’t want to let go of your Summer wardrobe – Or Summer – But things are starting to cool down. For me, this time of year is always about pulling some Fall items out of the back of the closet, holding on to some of my warm weather favorites, and maybe picking up a new piece or two.

Here’s my guide to nailing that Summer-to-Fall transition.

Top Your Maxi:

I for one LIVE in maxi dresses during the Summer. {I have this Lush knit maxi in four colors!} So the thought of pushing them to the back of the closet is disheartening. If you’re like me and aren’t ready to give them up – Try topping your maxi dress with a cropped jean jacket or moto jacket.

A chic little jacket is a quick and easy fix to make your maxi seasonally appropriate. And as the temps start to drop, you can switch out your sandals for pointy toed ankle booties.

The Tight Stuff:

Have a favorite pair of black shorts or a romper or playsuit that you’ve been living in all Summer? Try adding a pair of tights! If your look is all about floral or prints, you could try an opaque pair of black tights. But if you’re sticking with a black or monochrome look, you could spice it up with some Swiss dot or polka dot tights.

Blouse It:

Whether it’s your favorite mini skirt, perfectly fitted cropped pants, or a sweet little pair of shorts, you don’t have to give them up just yet. Skip the t-shirt or tank top you’ve been sporting with them and pull out your favorite long-sleeved blouse.

What’s YOUR favorite way to transition into Fall?
