Welcome to back to the MCLV Travel Series! After chatting about getting ready for your next vacation in this post, today we’re covering the first step in packing – Your travel toiletries bag!
I’ve broken down the goodies into four categories and you may not need all of the items or all of the categories, but it should give you a good starting point when you work on your kit!
Essentials:
These are the “don’t leave home without them” essentials that you really don’t want to forget. I’ll generally go for natural and/or fragrance free products since I don’t want to irritate my sensitive skin while I’m traveling. I often have to pack these for two because someone never remembers shampoo or floss.
- Body lotion – I like Burt’s Bees, super soothing & hydrating
- Hand cream/balm – I always travel with a little tin of Yes to Coconut Restoring Balm {works on the whole body!}
- Body wash/soap – Obsessed with Origins Exfoliating Body Wash
- Toothbrush {I use a bamboo toothbrush that I love!}
- Toothpaste
- Dental floss
- Deodorant – Totally obsessed with the Malin+Goetz Eucalyptus Deodorant. I got a mini for travel!
- Shampoo
- Conditioner
- Brush
- Hair ties, clips & pins – I’m still hooked on France Luxe Grab & Go Ponies {You can see more of my hair obsessions here – A Fitness Girl’s Guide to Hair}
- Feminine Hygiene Products
Skin Care:
Here’s where things get interesting! My daily skin care routine changes all the time as I add in new products and adjust things based on how my skin is doing. I also love using samples and trying new products while I’m traveling, since they’re so conveniently sized. I know some people refuse to use new things when traveling, so it’s all about what makes you comfortable.
Here’s what I’m packing skin care wise for my next trip:
- Moisturizer – Clinique Moisture Surge
- Witchhazel {this is GREAT to calm irritated skin, a must when you’re going to be surrounded by sun, bugs, and sea!}
- Make-up Wipes – Neutrogena – It’s a classic 🙂
- Cleanser – Eve Lom is my travel favorite, it’s a semi-solid so you don’t have to add it to your liquids bag
- Night Cream – Origins Night Renewal Cream – for the win!
- Eye Cream – Caudalie Lifting Balm is my current fav
- Sunscreen {Reef safe of course}
- Self tanning products – Body and face
- Exfoliator
- Face Mask – I’m a Kiehl’s junkie and always take packets of the Rare Earth Pore Cleansing Mask with me
- Hair Mask {I like to put masks in overnight when I’m traveling because all the salt water is harsh on your locks}
- Perfume – Something light and easy, I’m loving Nest Citrine for Summer
Extras:
Health:
Regardless of whether you have a finicky stomach or food allergies like me, sometimes it’s a good idea to have certain items on hand when you’re traveling. I keep a bag with all this stuff in my toiletries kit:
- Tea: Ginger, Sleepytime & Smooth Move
- Pepto Bismol Tabs
- Gas-X or Beano {Great if you have allergies/sensitivities but still want to indulge a bit on vacay}
- Imodium
- Dramamine {Good for sea or car sickness}
- Natural Calm
- Probiotic Supplement or Emergen-C with Probiotics
- Peppermint & Tea Tree Oil
- Food: I also keep a baggie of quick snacks in every suitcase I carry, it includes: No Cow Bars, Raw Almonds, Trail Mix & Protein Powder Packets
