Fitness Friday: Boxing

If you’re keeping up with my Fitness Friday series for July you’ll know that I’m having a blast trying different classes offered by Fitness App Vint. After meeting the team for a workout and launch party, I took on the challenge of giving some of their trainers a go. First I tried the strength training class – A mix of rings and body weight moves, and then I got to try the class I’ve been most excited about – Boxing!

After a blood pumping warm up we worked on form and footwork. It was almost like one of those motivational training montages from a sports movie. Except that by the end I could barely lift my arms.

But even as I jabbed and shuffled and crossed, I had a grin on my face. This is a workout that’s not only great for toning your whole body, but incredibly fun.

Luckily I have some solo exercises I can practice on my own while I schedule my next session!

Have YOU ever boxed?

July In Review

July was an active month on all fronts. I was thrilled to announce the relaunch of the new Legally Vogue website, I got to do some personal traveling, and I had the pleasure of working with a new SF based fitness company.

Read on for a more thorough review of my July adventures!

Fashion:

Even my fashion took a turn towards the sporty when I did a fun activewear inspired collaboration with JD Sports – Check out the first Adidas Originals look here.

Want more fashion? My July Sartorial Round-Up has all the big hits from the month up.

Food:

July has been a kitchen-centric month. Since I upped my physical activities – See below for more on that – I wanted to make sure that I was eating the best possible food to keep me healthy.

Lots of giant, nutrient-dense salads & stir fries, protein smoothie bowls, protein-rich snacks, and – Of course – Lots of water to stay hydrated. I also started using Vega’s pre-workout energizer help keep me going for my two-a-day workouts.

Fitness:

In July I partnered with Fitness App Vint to bring you a Fitness Friday series showcasing some of their killer classes. Want to learn more about what they’re offering? Check out my post on their launch party and my first Strength Training class.

Goals:

  1. Publish: I have some fun new projects on the horizon that I’m excited to share with my fabulous MCLV readers so be sure to stay tuned!
  2. Move: I had a BLAST in July trying new workouts through Vint. Strength training, weights, boxing… It was a great month!
  3. Grateful: I got a chance to get out of the city this month for a long weekend of fun in the sun {with ample amounts of sunscreen of course}. My April vacation to Greece was amazing but sometimes a few days away is all it takes to unwind and get back to a happy, healthy place.
  4. Habits: My top goal lately has been keeping an open mind, and heart. It’s very easy for me to close myself off and stick to my routine, and it’s much more difficult for me to roll with the punches and give myself over to possibilities. July included a few chances for me to put my ‘go with the flow’ skills to the test and I think I did a pretty good job. 🙂

What are YOU most proud of accomplishing in July?

Hair Transformation: Khaleesi Platinum

I have a short attention span and I love changing things up – From my apartment decor to my hair color.

This latest hair transformation was a dramatic one though, even for me. So we decided to document it in a Hair Survival Guide of sorts.

Here are the basic stats:

3 – Appointments with Natalie Keklikian {Read her tips on Salon Etiquette here}

1 – Overnight hair mask a week

2 – Maximum shampoos a week

3 – The number of Khaleesi references I’ve gotten so far

6 – Inches we cut off on our last appointment to leave me with the healthiest hair possible

Curious how I’m keeping my newly platinum locks healthy despite all the treatments? Moisture, moisture, moisture. Check out my favorite products below!

I legitimately couldn’t live without any of these. The hair masks are so hydrating and I always add argan oil when my hair is wet. I use the Kevin Murphy purple set every other week and the Pureology Precious Oil line the other times.

Do YOU like big hair changes?

Decor Dreaming & Inspiration

While closet cleaning & wardrobe detoxing are huge favorites of mine, they do tend to go hand-in-hand with me wanting to redecorate my entire apartment. Which is an especially dangerous feeling when you live alone and there’s no one to keep you from overhauling your living space multiple times a year.

I’m currently obsessing over black & white color schemes, animal prints, and luxurious, touchable fabrics, and textures.

{I can’t decide what I adore most in this shot – The framed black & white vintage maps. The combination of textures & fabrics. Or the divine glass-topped matching tables.}

{I’m a symmetry girl usually but I’m mad about this gallery wall featuring different sized prints with mismatched frames. It’s really eye-catching & eclectic.}

{This, my friends, is how one executed the desired “pop of color” trend when it comes to home decor.}

Jack Kerouac

I’ve always seen Jack Kerouac as a great source of inspiration. Not only reading his beautiful flow of his words, but the entire wandering, spontaneous mentality of the Beat Generation.

I’m especially lucky since San Francisco is a wonderful place for lovers of JK as well since you can find quotes, memorabilia, and mementos all across the city.
