This is a perfect style for vacation in my mind – Whether you’re on a tropical island or lake-side, the temperature usually starts to cool off in the evenings. Throw on a sweet little printed frock and some lip gloss, and you’re all set for dinner.

Alternatively, this is a great style for Summer weddings, especially outdoors. The print is classic, but can be dressed up or down depending on the dress code and location. If it’s a casual affaire, wear flat sandals and beachy waves. While, for an evening or dressier event, you’d pair it with heels, a red lip, and an updo.

I found this new-with-tags A.L.C. beauty on The Real Real, and they love lots of frocks from A.L.C. You can also find this brand on their website, Shopbop, Revolve, and department stores like Neiman Marcusand Bergdorf Goodman.

MCLV Style | My Current Uniform

I talked about my聽classic and somewhat聽minimal approach to fashion and style聽recently. In general, I’d rather have fewer high quality pieces that fit perfectly into my wardrobe than fast fashion trends that get tossed after one wear. {You can read more about my thoughts on fast fashion here – Why I Shop Vintage and Consignment}

This week, I’m sharing an example of my “uniform.” No, I’m not Steve Jobs-ing it up and wearing the exact same thing every day. Though I have to admit, that’s definitely tempting some days. 馃檪

What I mean by uniform is that I wear a variation on a similar style most of my days off. While I adore dresses and will be back in full dress mode as soon as the weather warms up, this time of year is all about pants for me.

Specifically – Slim fitting pants and tunics.

I’m always on the lookout for a great pair of pants. I’m extremely picky about how things fit on my waist and since I have muscular, athletic legs, I try not to end up at the skin-tight end of the slim fitting pants spectrum. These Who What Wear for Target pants are great. I was looking for my favorite deodorant and spotted these, and had to try them on. I was surprised by the quality and the fit, both of which were great. They also come in an army green version which I may have to pick up.聽And here I simply paired them with a classic striped tunic and a longline vest for layering.

MCLV Style | Minimal Fashion

When I first got interested in fashion during my early twenties – I tried everything! I loved fashion magazines and was glued to fashion week commentary each season. I wanted to give every trend a try, and聽loved to constantly buy new pieces from high street brands like Zara, Mango,聽and H&M.

Part of the fascination was due to the fact that I had my first job and could afford to shop and try new things. And the other part was that I didn’t have a defined personal style. I was still playing dress up all the time and figuring out what worked for me.

Wrap dresses – Yes. Crop tops – No. V-Neck necklines – Yes. Boyfriend jeans – No.

I was essentially creating my sartorial personality by trying different styles out, keeping what worked, and discarding what didn’t suit me.

These days, my personal style is fairly established. It may seem boring that I rarely try new trends or go shopping just for fun now, but it sure makes getting ready easier. If I went into my closet today everything would fit me, suit my body type, and virtually all of it would go with other pieces. Those are the benefits of knowing your style and keeping things minimal.

What is my style?

I like to use the phrase “classic with a twist,” but who knows what that means to you. I like classic silhouettes, and timeless, sometimes retro styles. Overall, my wardrobe is fairly minimal from a color perspective. It’s predominantly black and white, including plenty of black and white prints, with the occasional primary color or jewel tone. I tend to rely on accessories, especially handbags, as my “pop of color,”聽so I’d say that 70% of my wardrobe is black and white. And 95% of my workout clothes are black. 馃檪

MCLV Style: Business Casual Attire

Getting ready for work can get fairly boring year-after-year, especially if you’re constrained by a set dress code. My office is a strict business casual arena and I wore dresses every day for years. Shift dresses, wrap dresses, and classic, ladylike silhouettes.

Recently, however, I’ve been branching out more into the wonderful world of separates.

I’ve found that playing with different pieces and mixing and matching separates has made getting dressed for the office a bit more fun. I tend towards black and white and prints, and love an eye-catching accessory.

These Sam Edelman shoes are endlessly comfortable, I have them in two colors, so they’re great for long days or nights out where I’ll be on my feet for long periods of time. And I’m still head over heels in love with my Louis Cluny bag. It’s much smaller than my usual handbags, which was by design, and is helping me move towards a more simplified, paired down daily haul.

Best. Christmas. Present. Ever. 馃檪

What do YOU wear to the office? Do you have a dresscode like business casual?

MCLV Style: Airport Fashion

I have old-fashioned sensibilities when it comes to certain things and one of those things happens to be travel. Let’s just say, you’ll never see me at the airport in sweatpants or a pair of Uggs.

Comfort is important, especially on long trips, but I also like to be put together. Over the years I’ve developed a go-to uniform for flying and while the various iterations shift, the basics remain the same.

Comfortable Pants:

I used to primarily wear dresses when I traveled, but I didn’t like having my legs touch the seats so I traded them in for comfortable, but chic pants. I love these Karen Kane ponte knit pants {I have two pairs} because they’re flattering and easy to wear, and the lack of a button closure means they’re a bit more comfortable for hours of sitting.

Tunic:

When I travel I wear all black or black and white. This Tibi tunic made it into my travel rotation in 2017 {check out my Best Purchases of 2017} and I have it in two colors. It’s the perfect piece for traveling because it’s thick and doesn’t wrinkle.

Flats:

Since I gave up my beloved high heels, I’ve traveled exclusively in flats or boots. These metallic loafers from Coach are great for vacation because they’re versatile and can be worn the whole trip. Plus – Super comfy.

Luggage:

I’ve been carrying the Longchamp le Pliage luggage for years and absolutely adore it. They’re durable and easy to clean, and they’re hold a ton of gear. Plus they fold up into little pouches for easy storage at home or once you’re unpacked on vacation.

Do YOU have a go-to airport style?
