Celebrating Americana

This Fourth of July is especially exciting this year with recent legislation in the United States making me even more thrilled to celebrate this amazing country.

When I hear the word “Americana” I envision red, white, and blue pieces, I picture flags and stripes, and I think of looks that are a little bit cowboy with a touch of hippie chic.

American Fashion

Happy 4th of July!

Last week’s Fashion Inspiration post got me feeling nostalgic about fashion days gone by. With the 4th of July occurring this week I’ve also got Americana on my mind , so today I’m sharing some of my favorite images from American fashion’s heyday in advertising.

Americana: The Factory x Sasha Maks Vintage III

There are few things in this world that I love more than polka dots so I was immediately drawn to this fun little shorts + top combination from The Factory’s Americana collection. Sporty and modern but the pieces are still on the classic side.

What I love about these two polka dotted pieces is how versatile they are. You could easily pair the top with a white skater skirt or dark wash cropped jeans, while the sporty little shorts could easily be worn with a simple white tee or a tank and tailored blazer for a more nighttime-appropriate look.

For this shoot I wanted to put together a more Summery style so I added my favorite neutral heeled sandals and a great structured white tote that seems to go with everything.

What’s your favorite look in this lookbook?

My two favorite Summertime trends are sweet dresses, like Sasha wears here, and fun separates that you can get creative with. With this powder blue color being the predominate hue for our looks, I really liked that we kept the styling minimal with black & white accessories and gold jewelry.

Sasha’s carrying a structured black & white handbag & wearing Costume National booties that we found last year, while I’m carrying a Dooney & Bourke bag & wearing Sam Edelman sandals.

When you wear color do you like to keep you accessories more minimal?

Americana: The Factory x Sasha Maks Vintage

With San Francisco’s Indian Summer swiftly approaching I was thrilled when I was asked to style and model two looks from The Factory‘s Americana collection. The aptly named capsule includes classic, staple pieces – The ultimate, well-made basics that you can build your wardrobe around.

While this blouse is a great, classic piece, I have to admit that it was the skirt that I really fell in love with. Soft and comfortable with a drawstring waist and, best of all, pockets!

When it came to styling I wanted to maintain the basic color scheme but add a little edge by pairing the Summery pieces with booties & a structured black & white handbag.

What’s your favorite classic closet staple?
