Looks of the Week

What better way to finish off a Monday than to enjoy some great pictures of some great outfits?

Suit up! Nothing screams fall like a 70's inspired suit - check out Justyna from Chameleonic's version w/ a vest & hoop earrings.

For some reason, when I think of animal prints I think of in-your-face prints the likes of which Roberto Cavalli would be lost without. I forget that there are more subtle and low-key ways to wear these prints.

All I have to say is that if you're FIFTY SIX YEARS OLD and you look better in a dress than the rail-thin model wearing it on the runway, you are doing something so so right. And statues should be erected in your honor. I'm just saying.

Zoe Saldana looked adorably retro at the Trevor Project event in Hollywood. I love the ankle strap heels with the bright, geometric mini, much more fun than a LBD.

I love the stripes in this skirt, they're almost Egyptian in their color scheme. Too bad it's so hard to pull off these high-waisted skirts, sigh, if only we could all be supermodels!

Zoe Saldana also stunned at the Children’s Defense Fund Awards in Giambattista Valli. The combination of a ladylike skirt and a fun, floaty white top is picture perfect.

Miss Kailey may be a food blogger, but there's no denying the girl knows how to throw together a cute outfit. I adore the cropped jacket with the gold buttons, tres chic!

Amber Heard stunned in white hot Alessandra Rich at the Trevor Live benefit. I especially love the lace details and the back of this dress!

Hope you had a good Monday!

Bloomingdale’s Giveaway – WINNER

Thank you to everyone who participated in MCLV’s first giveaway,  a contest to win a $50 gift certificate to Bloomingdale’s.

Unfortunately only one entrant could win and this time around it was – drum roll please – caitlyncampbell4. Her response to the all important question?

Dear Chic Blogger,

I would take this beautiful Burberry Bag:

I love this piece because it is such a versatile color and shape, season-less, and I’m sure it smells like heaven.

I could wear it everyday –  to work, shopping on the weekends, sitting on the couch savoring the sweet smell of buttery leather (the hubby hates when I do things like this, but it’s too late for him – we’re already married.).

Now I want it 🙁

Personally I think that if you can publicly admit to being a purse-sniffer you deserve the bag of your dreams, so congratulations caitlyncampbell4! Just email me your address and I’ll have your gift certificate mailed right over.

If you didn’t win this round don’t dismay, stay tuned for more giveaways in the near future, we’ll try to make this a regular occurrence here at MCLV.

London Fashion Week Spring 2012 Round-Up

London Fashion Week was a bright affaire and despite the somewhat gloomy weather the designers did their best to give us brilliant shows. The looks had lots of traditional Spring flares but also had lots of structure, something that I love about British designers.

Burberry was a fun, funky twist on the classics. I loved the lengths, colors, patterns and accessories, especially the beaded chunky sandals.

Mary Katrantzou's collection was a bright extravaganza, the end result nothing short of art.

Christopher Kane's collection was light and airy, with interesting fabrics and unique silhouettes marching down the runway in chunky floral sandals.

The Peter Pilotto show was another one filled with bright splashes of color and innovative prints. This tech inspired snake-skin dress was to die for, a sophisticated and chic way to wear both color & prints.

The gorgeous Peter Pilotto show through a lens wielded by Garance Dore.

The separates at Matthew Williamson really caught my eye this season, there were lots of great shorts, mini & maxi length skirts and gorgeous blouses.

The Erdem show was sweet and floral, I adored the matching blue floral gloves with this dress.

Overall there was lots of color, lots of prints – which ran the gamut from pretty, traditional spring florals to wild ethnic prints in unabashedly bold colors – and lots of cool separates. Stay tuned for more from London and the Milan and Paris shows.
