London Fashion Week: CCUOCO

The door opened and a warm cloud smelling of hair spray wafted out. The high ceilinged back room of Freemasons Hall is roughly 15 degrees warmer than anywhere else in the building. Blow dryers, hair straighteners, curling irons – They’re all on high as models, make-up artists, hair stylists, and helpers bustle about backstage.

The elegant women lounging about the room have their hair slicked back into thick ridges at the crown. The expert make-up artists are crafting smokey, dramatic eyes that meld perfectly with the lush fabrics they wore. Textures and colors so eye-catching that you just wanted to reach out and touch them.

Down the crisp white Fashion Scout runway slinked some of London’s finest in belted metallic sheath dresses, scuba skater skirts, bold corsets, crop tops, two-toned pencil skirts, harnesses, and more from the CCUOCO Spring/Summer 2015 collection.

The finale look, worn by the collection’s face Kerstyn Inouye, featured a divine white leather maxi skirt, corseted halter, and dramatic headpiece from Spoiled Cherry.

The designer joined her muse for a second lap around the runway and when the two paused to snap a selfie at the end of the runway the crowd went WILD.

Fashion Week Inspiration

I’m beside myself with excitement for my upcoming trip to London for Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week. Not only do I utterly adore London, but I get to watch my brilliant friend, San Francisco fashion designer Candice Cuoco, show her CCUOCO collection!

I’ve attended NYFW before but this will be my first time at London Fashion Week, so wat’s the first thing that I did after making the decision to go? Buy my dream bag and start planning my outfits, of course! And no, common sense is not a factor when it comes to handbags. 🙂

I love visual inspiration and Pinterest immediately became one of my favorite social media platforms when it launched. Keep scrolling for some of my London Fashion Week inspiration!

San Francisco Fashion: CCUOCO Crop Top

The CCUOCO Spring/Summer 2014 collection includes a few different crop tops – From a halter to a fun lace-up version like the one pictured above. And crop tops are everywhere this time of year, but the question is, how do you make them street style appropriate?

Even if you have a killer bod and are comfortable showing it off, most daytime situations don’t call for that much exposed skin. By adding a simple blouse or tee under the crop top you can still put together a fun, eye-catching look, but the overall style is more day-to-day appropriate.

San Francisco Fashion: CCUOCO Lace-Up Vest

For the third installation of the MCLV x CCUOCO Spring Lookbook I’d like to share a great San Francisco look featuring this fun, flattering lace-up leather vest.

Missed out on the first two looks? Catch them here – San Francisco Fashion: CCUOCO Spring Lookbook & San Francisco Fashion: CCUOCO Leather Dress Day-To-Night.

What immediately struck me about this fab lace-up vest is its versatility. I can easily picture it with jeans and a vintage tee for a casual but edgy daytime look or zipped up & paired with slim fitting black pants for a night out sans top {gasp!}.

For me, it was a no brainer to pair this fun, eye-catching piece with a simple dress for a put-together daytime style. The dress is flattering, but it takes a backseat to the drama of the vest, which is perfect.

Add killer heels and some chunky jewelry and you’re good to go!

San Francisco Fashion: CCUOCO Leather Dress Day-To-Night

The first post that I shared from the CCUOCO x MCLV Spring Lookbook was this killer leather dress that I styled with a sweet little bow blouse and vintage peep-toe booties. The perfect look for a day filled with meetings or after-work drinks.

Today we’re styling that same sleek leather dress for an evening outing. Because, let’s be honest, a fabulous new piece that seamlessly goes from day-to-night is always a winner!

Taking a look from day-to-night is ALL about accessories – You’d be amazed just how dramatic of a difference can be made with the addition of killer heels, statement jewelry, and bold colors.

In this instance we decided to stick with the classic black & white color scheme but added some visually interesting points with a leopard print clutch, gold & mesh booties & a metallic collar.

What’s YOUR favorite way to take a piece from day-to-night?
