Looks of the Week

Happy Monday my loves.

Is it just me, or are weekends getting shorter and shorter? Well, hopefully this can help soften the blow of yet another week starting…

This is such a great, clean look. Effortlessly striking. Arizona Muse has been all over the magazine pages and runways over the last year, and now she's starting to be just as dependable on the streets.

I didn't know that there was a way to make a puffy jacket look chic... Apparently you layer it with a blazer over a button down and tie. And for extra credit, add a hat!

Retro glamour at its finest. Evan has really been hitting her stride with these old school looks lately, somehow she manages to make them look fresh and modern rather than cookie cutter Bettie Page. Well done.

There is only one word for this look - striking. This dress is nothing short of show-stopping. If you saw her, could you help but stop and stare? It's not traditional or typical, but those don't seem to be high on her priority list for the red carpet. And her hair looks a million times better with the bangs swept to the side.

Whether you're sick to death of her or a big fan, you have to admit Miss Jenny From The Block looks pretty fierce here. You know me, I'm a sucker for a great coat. Add some leopard print, Jackie O sunglasses and badass shoes & I'm sold!

A chilly looking Rosie strutted her stuff in New York in some KILLER Alaia boots. While leather pants/leggings aren't something the average woman can pull off, this is a great example of how a statement coat and great shoes are all you need to make a look work. She could easily be wearing a dress under that coat or plain black pants, it's the extras that make it drool-worthy.

I love to feature fashion bloggers in my Looks of the Week posts and this is Justyna from Chameleonic's second appearance. What I love about this look is that it's simple and eclectic at the same time. Nothing is more timeless than a trench - but its spiced up by leopard heels and a bright fuchsia faux fur scarf.

Leave it to stylist Rachel Zoe to throw together the PERFECT black & white look. It's a little bit hippie with the flowy white maxi & tons of Chanel chains but the chic blazer & wide snake-skin belt keep the look structured and put together.

Not sure how to make snake-skin pants low key and daytime appropriate? California-based Song of Style has the answer – a jean jacket! (Told you they were back!

Looks of the Week

Need some pretty to start off your week? Me too.

Carry on!

I love it when celebrities wear real clothing! 🙂 Check out Kate Middleton looking adorable in Zara.

Want to make this dress your very own? Zara recently created an online shopping website so you can order online even if there’s no Zara in your city – Lace Tulip Dress.

Caroline Sieber's dress here is very pretty, but what caught my attention were her shoes! I'm loving this multi ankle strap trend, its chic and fun.

While I'm not 100% sold on this color for Miss Rachel, I have to admit that she looks phenomenal. Its glamorous and retro, perfect for your movie premiere.

My favorite part is definitely the back, so gorgeous!

I completely adore Olga Sherer's outfit here, it's my ideal fall look. I especially like her blazer w/ a touch of leopard print at the sleeves.

Amber Heard has been making quite the splash lately on the Red Carpet. I love that this menswear inspired look manages to be sexy, retro and glamorous rather than androgynous.

While Elizabeth Olsen's red carpet looks may be hit or miss, her street style seems to be right on. Chanel button down and Elizabeth & James (awww) pants. How adorable and comfy do those pants look?

Coco Rocha in Zac Posen at the Letters to Haiti US Premiere. I ADORE the details of this dress and I'm so glad that she didn't shy away from jewelry, this dramatic spiked collar is perfection!

Wow. Just wow. Head to toe wow.

Garance Dore captured this great look - I love the double-breasted red coat, the wide leg plaid pants and the gorgeous tan bag.

Pre-Fall 2012 Collections: Part I

Pre-Fall collections hit retailers in May of the upcoming year and are intended to be worn as the warmer weather gives way to cooler days and chilly nights. For the most part only the larger houses create Pre-Fall collections and generally these are smaller collections than the Fall and Spring lines and presented with less fanfare.

Carolina Herrera’s Pre-Fall 2012 collection was tailored and smart, with colors ranging from lipstick red to shiny gold and consisted mostly of outerwear, day dresses and evening gowns.

The devil is in the details! This is an exquisite look, from the brick colored leather piping to the fur-covered sleeves to the tulle peeking out from the bottom of the coat. Love the pointy toed lace up pumps too!

Mr. Lagerfeld continued his around the world themes with a “Paris-Bombay” collection shown in Paris on Tuesday. Lots of black, white, fuchsia and gold, lots of tweed, lots of separates and lots of beads and pearls. The most interesting part? The ornamental beaded headdresses, dreadlocks, thick kohl liner and delicate nose piercings.

The first thing that caught my attention is the photo were the ropes of pearls decorating the waist, pockets and sleeves. Simultaneously extravagant and simplistic.

It's amazing to me how utterly "Chanel" this look is while being completely exotic and Far East at the same time. I can definitely see people wearing these gorgeous beaded sandals and sumptuous metallic leggings next year.

The DKNY Pre-Fall 2012 collection was bright, fun and 100% wearable. Crisp, fresh separates in white and black, colorblock sheaths, floral garden dresses and some stripes, crochet & lace for good measure. My favorite pairing was the a-line leather mini skirt with a sheer bow blouse and platform ankle strap sandals. (See Tom & Lorenzo’s photos & commentary here).

The separates were really standout and there was a great mix n' match sense with the styling.

So cute! Chic and classic, but fun and youthful.

Jason Wu was structured, ladylike and alllll about the accessories. From beautiful handbags in classic designs to cinched elbow length leather gloves to fur scarves, this collection was all about old-school glamour.

The separates were bold and bright. I especially liked the slim-fitting riding pants in mismatched colors.

This was my favorite look from Jason Wu, I love the ribbed sweater with contrasting collar worn with a printed A-line skirt. The gloves are the perfect finishing touch.

Fun, retro geometric prints appeared on separates, coats and dresses, all paired with shiny patent leather heels and nipped waists.

Oscar de la Renta’s Pre-Fall 2012 collection was all about the separates. Yes, there were the dresses and gowns Mr. de la Renta is known for, but there were also a lot of great skirts, blouses and coats in black & white, prints and brights. Lace, ruffles, plaid, geometric prints, polka dots, leather, fur, silk, knit… This collection had a little bit of everything. (See Tom & Lorenzo’s photos & commentary here).

Plaid, polka dots & lace - Oh My! Not a traditional combination, but one that works nonetheless. Somehow this manages to be chic and fun rather than overwhelmingly busy.

I absolutely adored this look! The fitted silhouette with capsleeves, the big buttons, the Swiss dot tights, the lace cap, the patent leather loafer pumps, the black & white polka dots. Absolutely adorable.

Paris Fashion Week Spring 2012: Part I

The final of the four major fashion weeks was in Paris and without further ado, let’s get onto the clothes!

Leave it to Alexander McQueen's Sara Burton to take a conservative suit and serve it up with corsets, ruffles, bondage masks and gladiator wedges. Well done.

Louis Vuitton was sweet and candy-coated compared to last seasons' dark hued S&M themed show. Easter egg colors, girlie silhouettes and lacey fabrics.

Also, Marc was able to get the new Mrs. Jamie Hince to walk his runway again, check out the video here.

Miu Miu started dark but my favorite looks were from the airy second half like this one, which included a beige lace dress with a crocheted cape/coat and satiny slippers.

Valentino was all about dresses and continue to play on the prim & proper cuts done in naughty sheer fabric that they touched on last season. These gowns will definitely be making some red carpet appearances in the coming months.

 Valentino Spring 2012 Ready-to-Wear

Karl created an underwater paradise for Chanel this season, complete with Florence Welch singing in a half shell. The collect was a sleek and modern take on classic Chanel, with beautifully cut suits and intricate dresses.

YSL was, in a word, wearable. Easy separates in sumptuous fabrics and gorgeous jewel tones. I could see virtually every piece of this collection walking down the street.

Clare Waight Keller kept things light and classic Chloe for her first collection, but I have to admit, my favorite part was the accessories!

Giambattista Valli was a mix of decadent brocades, marabou feathers and metallic prints. This coat dress was one of my favorites, I love the mix of florals and muted color-blocking.
