Finding the perfect trench coat has been on my To Do List for a while now. It’s one of those pieces that just makes an outfit. With one quick additional your look is polished and ready to go.
So what was I looking for in the trench of my dreams? I toyed with the idea of either a black coat and a long version. I went so far as to order this DKNY maxi trench and this Ellen Tracy black trench coat.
They were both great, however, deep down, I think I knew that I really wanted a classic khaki trench.
When I saw this Rag & Bone Trench Coat on The Real Real it was love at first sight. It’s exactly what I wanted – Classic, but with a twist. The buttons are the perfect little extra to give it a fun new spin.
I can’t stop wearing it!
What’s YOUR closet staple for Fall/Winter this year?
While I love bright colors and fun, bold prints – Sometimes there’s nothing more perfect than a minimal piece. Something paired down that allows your style to really shine through with accessories and extras.
One of things that I especially loved about this coat was the amazing attention to detail. The aqua piping at the cuffs and collar were the perfect little addition and I loved how the buttonholes were so eye-catching. Such creative, unique ways to give the coat a little something extra to make it stand out in a sea of white offerings for the season.
I ultimately chose this look because the fun mixing-and-matching of the pieces really appealed to me. While I wouldn’t traditionally think of neutral sandals as a Fall staple, I loved how these nude & white heels allowed the eye focus on the coat, while my favorite monogrammed Gigi New York clutch highlighted its chic detailing.
During San Francisco Fashion Week last September I met local San Francisco designer Anubha Srivastava. Her Fall 2013 collection of outerwear for A by Anubha was right up my alley – Classic, flattering pieces in bold, eye-catching colors. Bonus? The designer herself is one of those genuinely sweet people who is an absolute joy to work with.
After hitting it off during SFFW we decided to do a collaboration featuring Daytime and Nighttime Outerwear which is still one of my favorite shoots that I’ve gotten to do for MCLV.
Luckily for all of the outerwear lovers out there, A by Anubha is back with another Fall/Winter collection that you’ll be swooning over in no time. From Winter White to Parisian Chic, these coats are just the ticket for this season.
I love a good peplum and when I saw the subtle flair on this lipstick red jacket it was love at first sight. What better way to set off the color than a classic pair of dark wash Paige Denim jeans?
I may have titled this look Parisian Chic and done a bit of Bardot-channeling while I styled it, but there’s also a bit of an Italian flair to the look as well. I could picture this look just as easily sitting at a café on Piazza San Marco in Venice as I could strolling the Champs-Élysées in Paris, shopping bags in hand.
After showing off my favorite Daytime Outerwear from San Francisco-based A by Anubha a few weeks ago I wanted to show you my favorite Nighttime Outerwear pieces from this same collection.
For nighttime I like to incorporate rich, bold colors that really make a statement. A high-impact coat can take a look to the next level whether you’re wearing jeans and a fun top or a chic little dress.
These pieces in navy, oxblood, and deep olive-green all fulfill my love of statement pieces in an eye-catching hue. I love the different lengths and silhouettes too, they’re perfect for any look that you could put together for a night out on the town.
You can find out more about the line and contact the designer here for prices & availability. And if you’ve already got your eye on your Spring wardrobe don’t fret, the beautiful Anubha is currently in India working hard on her next line so you’ll have the perfect cover-ups when the weather warms up.
