Trendy Mondays: Cobalt

Cobalt blue is one of my favorite shades – It looks great with black & white, or mixed with prints, and it never hurts to add some bold prints or fun accessories. It’s the perfect backdrop for whatever you’re in the mood for sartorially.

This dress immediately caught my attention at the Trendy Mondays boutique, not just because of the killer shade of blue, but because of the eye-catching details.

Leather piping & patches, gold buttons, and exposed zippers all give the frock a little something extra. There’s a time and place for a simple dress, but when you need something a little more high-impact, a piece like this one is the way to go!

And what better way to make a boldly colored dress pop than with a timeless white coat? I love the cut of this gorgeous Oky Coky wool coat, it’s one of those outerwear pieces that you keep forever and never stop wearing.

When I saw this Cobalt blue dress at Banana Republic I immediately envisioned a number of different ways to wear it. For me, the ultimate sign of a good purchase is when you know that you’ll be able to style one piece for a number of outings and events.

The v-shaped neckline is simple but oh-so-flattering and will go equally well with delicate jewelry like this silver Chloe + Isabel necklace, a bold, oversized statement collar, or even a chic little blazer for an after-work event during the week.

My first shoe pick was actually a clean black pump, but I really loved how these Manolo Blahnik Mary Jane’s added a little something extra to the look.

MCLV Style: Cobalt

Cobalt is without a doubt my favorite shade of blue.

It’s bold and eye-catching, but still feels very classic. And as an added bonus, it’s also versatile enough to make styling a breeze with all the great options for mixing and matching. Especially for Spring!

When I saw this cobalt dress I knew it had to be mine. The styling options are endless. This can easily go from a sweet Summer style thrown over a bathing suit with sandals to a great evening look with a cropped leather jacket and killer heels.

I get asked about this coat all the time – I actually bought it when I lived in Rome my Junior year of college. The store and brand have been lost to the sands of time (I mean – it was TEN years ago!) but I’ve loved it every minute since. If this is just your style as well, you can find similar styles here, here, and here.
