MCLV Style: Cocktail Attire

One of the staples every woman should have in her closet is a great cocktail frock.

A dress that always makes you feel great when you slip into it – Whether you’re heading to an event, out for a drink, or to dinner with friends.

I have a lot of black & white in my closet so I jumped at the chance to add this black & blue animal print dress to my collection. I love how the pop of cobalt blue gives the print a really eye-catching quality.

And the simple silhouette also means that you can spice it up with accessories like this bold J.Crew collar necklace a la Cleopatra and my favorite oversized BCBGMaxAzria gold cuff that I’ve nicknamed Xena.

The important finishing touch for any evening look is the perfect little bag. I always walk out the door with a smile on my face when I carry this black vintage beaded clutch that my grandmother handed down to me. It’s definitely one of my favorite heirlooms!

Tiffany & Co: Valentine Fashion

The first two MCLV x Tiffany T Collection posts focused on daytime and workwear styling – How to wear these gorgeous, versatile pieces for your day-to-day life, from the weekend to the office.

Today let’s talk about evening wear – This is perfect whether you have a fabulous Valentine date to plan, girls night out, or just a fun evening out on the town to get dressed up for.

Layering delicate bracelets and stacking rings is the perfect way to set off a detailed dress like this lace peplum number. I love how this combination of gold, rose gold, silver, and diamonds looks together – It creates a look that’s simultaneously modern and timelessly elegant.

My daily jewelry style is definitely focused on layering so I was especially taken with these Tiffany T Wire Bracelets. They’re perfect for mixing & matching with other metals or with more dramatic pieces. It’s a great, and easy, way to create a look at is completely “you.”

Trendy Mondays: Sequined Dress

I’m thrilled to introduce a new collaboration with new San Francisco-based boutique Trendy Mondays. I met one of the founders a year or so ago, an uber chic stylist in her own right, and was beside myself with excitement when I learned she was going to be launching a boutique featuring stylish labels from her native Spain.

When we got together to discuss a collaboration we knew exactly what we wanted – To show the modern woman all the great ways to wear classic wardrobe staples in fun, flattering ways.

First up – The statement dress!

Every woman should have a cocktail dress in her closet that does two very important things: (1) Makes her look amazing, and (2) Makes her FEEL amazing.

You know what I’m talking about, that piece that always puts a smile on your face or, no matter how indulgent you’ve been, makes your figure look divine.

It seemed fair to start this series out with this dress as it was the first thing that I picked for the collaboration. I love the combination of fabrics, textures, and colors. It’s rich and dramatic, but still versatile.

When you’re wearing a bold, embellished piece you don’t want to overdo the accessories – You keep them minimal and let the dress do the talking. Here I went with a killer pair of strappy black heels and a versatile gold clutch.
