When I realized a few years ago just how much of what we put on our skin – Sunscreen, makeup, skin care, nail polish – Ends up in our bloodstream {Huffington Post}, I immediately decided to make some healthy changes.
I’ve worked hard over the past few years to try new brands and support local, organic, and eco-friendly lines that offer high quality products without chemicals and unhealthy fillers.
No unnecessary additives. No chemicals intended to make it last forever. And no BS!
Fair: High-quality, affordable products made with only the best ingredients
Dedicated: To the customer, community, and environment (Natural, organic products w/out harmful chemicals)
Authentic: The owner, Sherri, only sells products that she uses. All of which are carefully curated in San Francisco!
I first met Sherri at her Polk Street shop The Beauty Company – Sadly now closed – And was excited to be a tester when she first launched her line. Originally started in 2012, Ziesche now carries a complete line of skin care and some lotions, mens products, and hair care {the dry shampoo is life altering!}.
Have YOU given healthy skin care a try?
{Note: Ziesche Dry Shampoo is $15 instead of $19.95 through Sunday! And the deal includes a deluxe travel dry shampoo.}
Living in California right now we’re constantly reminded about the drought we’re going through. From statistics in the news to signs in restrooms to water rationing announcements
And, unfortunately, one of the major water-wasters these days is long showers. So what’s a beauty junkie to do if she can’t get in a long shower filled with beauty and skin care products?
Find new products!
I fell in love with local customized skin care line SopHistry last year and their founder & head-chemist has tackled a new project to help us combat the drought on the beauty front – An eco-friendly hair treatment that cuts down significantly on water usage.

The bold color of this bag and eye-catching gold hardware practically begs to be taken out for a night on the town. It’s perfect for any look – From a chic little black dressto jeans and a killer top.
Convertible bags are my favorite style. I really like having options and being able to take the chain off this cross body bag and turn it into a hand-held clutch gives it a little something extra.
I love getting to know new brands – There’s nothing better than discovering a company that you really click with and watching them conquer the world. Urban Expressions is one of those brands that I’m excited to have a chance to share with my readers. Not only is it a California-based company creating gorgeous handbags, but their products are eco-friendly and certified vegan.
When this bold Kya bag arrived I knew I wanted to showcase it in a fun but classic way – It’s such a timeless and ladylike style handbag that I wanted to create a look with a similar vibe.
I love top handle bags like this, they inevitably make me think of Grace Kelly or Jackie O. But this baby has an added bonus, there’s also a gorgeous gold chain that allows you to carry it as a cross-body bag!
Earlier this year I shared some fun ideas for mixing up your Beauty, Skin Care & Make-Up routines for Spring and today I’d like to share what I’m using on a regular basis. Some of these goodies are old standbys and some are new-to-me products that I’m loving so far.
You’ll notice an interesting mixture of brands, I’m slowly working my way toward using 100% eco-friendly, natural & green products but don’t want to be wasteful and throw away everything I’ve bought or been given so it’s a slow process.
Without further ado, here are my Spring Beauty Essentials…
Skin Care:
My skin care routine can be summed up in three words: Cleansing, exfoliating, and moisturizing. I like clean, soft skin and I gravitate towards products that have little or no scent and an immediate effect.
SPF Moisurizer – First Aid Beauty 5-in-1 SPF 30 Face Cream: I’ve been using this for a few weeks and I like how light it is on my face. I’ve tried a few moisturizers in the past that immediately caused breakouts or visibly oily skin which this does not.
Cleansing Wipes – Josie Maran: I started using these YEARS ago when they were given to me as a sample at Sephora and I’ve never looked back. They’re amazing for travel and I keep them in my styling kit!
I prefer to keep my make-up routine simple and quick. Early mornings and long days mean that I need long-lasting, effective products that will keep me looking fresh from my first meeting all the way through my after-work events.
BB Cream – Tarte Amazonian Clay: I’ve been mixing up what I put on my face in the mornings – Trying different products and new trends (BB, CC…) I’m currently using this Tarteone which I like, but my all time favorite is still the Dior Hydra Life Pro-Youth Skin Tinted Moisturizer. Seriously you guys, this is DIVINE.
Undereye Concealer – Laura Mercier: I’ve been using this duo for years and have never found anything that works as well!
Brow Pencil – Laura Mercier: Eyebrows are incredibly important, they really give your face shape & definition and I love how easy to use this pencil is. I’m dying to try Benefit’s Brows A Go though!
Eye Liner – Korres & I also love this liquid eyeliner from Stila If you’re new to liquid liner this Stila pen is basically training wheels – I highly recommend giving it a try!
