MCLV Style: Faux Leather Style

I love color. I’m always drawn to the bright hues and bold prints when I’m shopping. I have outerwear, dresses, heels, and accessories in every color imaginable. And yet… On weekends I frequently default to head-to-toe black or, just maybe, branch out to black & white.

It’s easy to style and effortlessly chic.

My weekend uniform of late has been slim fitting pants or structured leggings, with an oversized tunic. These paneled faux leather pants from BCBG are a current favorite since they’re lined and really comfortable.

When you’re wearing basics like black & white, finishing your look is all about the accessories. My new Kate Spade bag from The Real Real perfectly played into the color scheme and my Marrin Costello for Les Mechantes lariat added just the right amount of shine.

MCLV Style: Faux Leather Jacket

A perfectly fitted leather jacket is a great staple for any woman’s closet. From putting together rock n’ roll inspired nighttime looks to spicing up a printed maxi dress for Spring weekends, it’s a versatile piece that will always give your looks a little boost.

I’ve been keeping my eye out for a good faux leather version for myself and recently stumbled upon this great little number at the big new Express on Union Square in San Francisco.

I popped in to grab this green maxi dress for wedding season and couldn’t resist trying this baby on.

What can I say? It was love at first sight!

With my favorite Vince Camuto over-the-knee boots and a MAJOR Baublebar bib this was the perfect look for the recent Poshmark Party at Mercer.

MCLV Style: Faux Leather Pants

One of my favorite Fall-Winter trends this season were the leather leggings and pants that popped up everywhere. It took me a few tries to find the right version for me – I wanted something comfortable and breathable, but still flattering.

I finally settled on this paneled pair because they’re comfortable and versatile – Easily going from daytime to nighttime with just a quick change of accessories and adding some fun heels.

And in addition to falling head-over-heels for this fab pair of faux leather pants, I was quite taken with these seriously comfortable ballet flats that I swooped up on sale at Neiman Marcus a few weeks ago. Nothing quite like a killer holiday sale!

Have YOU tried out the faux leather pants or leggings trend this season?

Fall Shopping

After getting inspired for Fall and checking out the fashion and beauty trends for Fall I wanted to share my personal picks for this coming Fall/Winter season – It’s all about classic lines and dark, moody hues.

{Asos Faux Leather Pants – $59, Ralph Lauren Plaid Shirt Dress – $129, MICHAEL Michael Kors Peep-Toe Bootie – $225 & French Connection Faux Leather Trimmed Trench Coat – $205}

Faux Leather Pants:

What I love about these babies is how versatile they are – They add a rock n’ roll twist to everything from an oversized tunic to a basic tee paired with a cropped jacket.

I love classic plaid for Fall and this season there’s tons of fun plaid out there – From accessories and handbags to pants, tops, and dresses. This plaid shirt dress caught my eye because it can be dressed up in so many different ways. Tights and comfortable flat booties will be the perfect daytime look and for evening you can add a pair of sexy heels and a cropped leather jacket to glam it up.

Lace-Up Booties:

Boots and booties are a must for Fall and this year I just can’t get enough of fun, eye-catching extras like open toes, buckles, and laces. Luckily for me these gorgeous heels include all three, so obviously I can’t live without them!

A navy trench coat has been on my Must Have list for a while now and while a girl can dream of Burberry sometimes you’ve got to compromise. This French Connection faux leather trimmed trench is so cute that I just had to make it my own!

What’s at the top of your Fall shopping list?

MCLV Style: Vegan Leather

Like many others I’ve been coveting the sleek leather cut-out tops Alexander Wang featured for his Spring 2013 Read-To-Wear collection. Unwilling to part with my rent money though I invested in this fun little vegan leather version from Piperlime.

Guilt free fashion!
