MCLV Style: Moody Miss Havisham

I’m not a Springy pastels kind of girl but give me some dark, moody florals and I’m a happy blogger. San Francisco Summers are all about layers – The days will start out foggy, warm up, and then somehow end with wind and rain. It’s pretty amazing when you’re not stuck in the thick of it actually.

After falling for this chiffon floral kimono from Sheinside last fall I knew I was going to need to add another to my wardrobe. They’re the perfect piece to throw over a dress or a pair of pants for a little boho inspired flare.

What’s great about these darker hues is their versatility. They add something bold to a solid black or neutral look, like this one here, or you can up the spice factor by pairing florals with florals.

While we were shooting this look I dubbed it the Miss Havisham – I just felt so dramatic and tragically romantic with the dark hues and layered necklaces.

Do YOU like dark moody hues for Summer?

What I loved about this dress is that it’s classic and minimal, but still eye-catching. The colorful floral appliqué adds the perfect touch of fun without detracting from the simple silhouette and elegance of the frock.

Stay tuned to learn more about fabulous San Francisco fashion start-up Ladada and learn how you can customize the perfect box of goodies for yourself!

MCLV Style: White & Florals

Aftering sharing some of the fun shots from the opening celebration for this year’s San Francisco Fashion Week I wanted to show what I wore to the reception event on the first day. It’s all about the white & florals!

Picking through your wardrobe & putting together stylish looks can be a challenge during months like September and October. During this transition period between Summer and Fall I really like to mix traditionally “Summer” pieces with cold-weather layering pieces. Adding a structured blazer like this white one to a sweet sundress is the perfect evening look for a September night in San Francisco.

After I piled on my favorite gold accessories and grabbed a bag big enough to hold my giant camera, I was ready to go for a few hours of fashion fun.

What’s your favorite style for the Summer-to-Fall period?

MCLV Style: Black And White Florals

Even on lovely Spring days I’m not always in the mood for color – That’s why my wardrobe has a hefty dose of moody black & white prints. They’re dramatic and eye-catching without being overly in-your-face which I especially like for hot Summer nights.

My favorite way to spice up a clean black & white look is with a statement piece – A killer necklace, a dramatic shoe, or, as in this case, a bold scarf. I raved about this fun TopShop scarf earlier this Spring {Transitioning From Winter-To-Spring} and clearly the love affaire continues! :)

Looks of the Week

I hope that everyone had a lovely weekend! The weather is really starting to turn towards Fall here in San Francisco with crisp, clear days and shower-filled evenings. My favorite time of year!

Let’s celebrate Monday coming to a close with a handful of fashionable looks from around the globe that’ll have you as excited for Fall dressing and accessories as I am.

I love this look from head-to-toe. Pairing a floral blouse with a green & black polka-dotted high-waist pencil skirt was brilliant and those shoes are too cute!

Such a fun, eclectic look. The round retro frames suit her to a T, I love the print & pattern mixing with the tunic and leggings, and the leopard print mini Celine bag is a great final touch.

Leopard print shorts are a hard piece to pull off but this look perfectly combines the fun, eye-catching print shorts with a bright, but demure sweater & button-down combo. The addition of the lipstick red handbag and the black velvet smoking flats.

As far as I’m concerned, this is the perfect weekend look. It’s relaxed and comfortable but chi as hell. The chunky striped sweater and blazer combo is great and I adore all of the accessories – swoon – and I’m a huge fan of cropped pants. Well done!
Such a stunning all-black look. I love all of the great details here – The studded leather Zara skirt, the animal print smoking flats, and the wide cuff.
Who says nautical trends are just for Spring? This look proves that navy and white can easily be just as chic in Fall silhouettes as Spring, especially with neutral accents!
