There’s nothing worse than getting to the gym and realizing you’re missing something that you need. You feel like the whole trip was a waste and it totally throws you off! Below is a peek into my gym bag so you can see all my essentials.
Nothing ruins a workout faster than looking in your gym bag and realizing that you’re missing something important. No headphones? No workout in my book!
I keep two fully stocked gym bags going – One stays at the office where I use the gym every day and have a locker, and the other is at home for trips to my build’s gym and sauna.
So what are my essentials that are always in my gym bag? Here you go!
Phone, book, or magazine {To keep me entertained on indoor cardio days – I usually do my social media checking for the day while I’m on a machine at the gym}
Whether you’re grabbing a gym session before or after work, or heading to a studio for a class on a weekend, you need to have all your essentials on hand.
Just in case.
For me those essentials include everything from equipment and gear for my workout to my skin care and make-up for cleaning up after my sweat session.
I’ve used the cutest little retro Lacoste duffle bag for years but recently decided to upgrade to a new gym bag in the hopes of getting a big more space. Women’s Health recommended this Lole Nina Duffle Bag and I couldn’t be happier with it!
There’s enough room for shoes & a full outfit or two {I used to leave a pair of shoes at work since they didn’t fit in my bag}, plus there are compartments for everything from a water bottle to hair ties to beauty stuff. AND there’s a strap on top to secure your yoga mat. It’s genius!
Gear:
Arm Band – I always carry my phone when I go running. Sometimes I’m using a running app or listening to music, I often stop to snap pictures for Instagram, and I always want to have a means of contacting the outside world just in case I hurt myself.
This oversized band is great for me since I have a Galaxy rather than a iPhone, plus I can put cash, an extra hair tie & chapstick inside.
Nike Visor– I’ve perfected the art of keeping my skin healthy during my outdoor runs. Aside from the prodigious application of sunscreen, I also rely on my trusty visor to keep my delicate facial skin shaded.
Shoes – For cross training, boxing, and any miscellaneous activities I wear Brooks Pure Flow. I’ve worn Brooks for years and every pair is somehow better than the last. For running I just got my first pair of Nike Free running shoes and I’m pretty smitten.
Cleanser – Cleaning off your face & neck is important to keep your skin clear post-workout. I swear by these Josie Maran Bare Naked Wipes. They’re organic and have argan oil so they’re really moisturizing.
Dry Shampoo – I don’t wash my hair daily so I can’t go without dry shampoo after a sweat session. I love local brand Ziesche Modern Apothecary‘s dry shampoo – Vegan, made locally, and totally awesome!
Headphones – I prefer noise canceling ear buds and have gone through my fair share before finding Beats By Dre Ibeats which have lasts MUCH longer than any of their predecessors.
