MCLV Style: Hippie Chic Maxi

When Spring rolls around I have a few annual traditions. There’s Spring Cleaning, there’s rearranging & purging my closets, and there’s – Drum roll please – The reemergence of my favorite maxi dresses.

It’s the most wonderful time of the year!

For me, the quickest way to feel effortlessly chic is a maxi dress or skirt. They’re the perfect combination of flirty, hippie chic, and timeless – I immediately feel put together and I never get tired of the subtle retro vibe.

I love dresses in general because they’re quick, one piece & you’re out the door. And a flowy maxi is all the more chic because they’re so versatile.

From the pool and hot Summer nights to music festivals and weekend errands – This is the answer to all of your Spring and Summer sartorial needs.

I think the other reason I find maxi dresses to be such an instant mood boost is that they remind me of being on vacation. Does anything say “I’m ready for umbrella drinks on the beach” quite like an ankle skimming, open-backed dress?

It just begs to be thrown over a bikini!

How do YOU feel about maxi styles? Are you a fan of the hippie chic vibe  for vacation like I am?

MCLV Style: Boho Fashion

Long-sleeved dresses are something that I always keep an eye out for. Specifically, long-sleeved dresses that work for evenings. There are an endless variety of styles out there, but with a long-sleeved silhouette you can often skip the coat which can be nice on occasion.

Don’t get me wrong, I adore outerwear – Really – But not having to worry about forgetting your coat is always a bonus.

For it’s next outing I decided on a bohemian-meets-ladies-who-lunch style. What does that mean exactly?

Giant hat.

Tiny bag.

Killer heels.

The black, white & cobalt blue scarf that I’m wearing above is one of my new favorite pieces. This isn’t just any scarf – It’s thick, fully lined, and incredibly soft and warm. I didn’t take it off for the rest of the day. Or the next…

With the bright, eye-catching colors and great size its perfect for everything from throwing over a maxi for Spring to carrying in your beach bag all Summer.

What do YOU think of these hippie styles?

MCLV Style: Boho Style

Summertime is perfect for injecting a little boho chic into your style – I fell completely in love with this embellished top from River Island when I was browsing Asos a few weeks ago and as soon as it showed up at my door I tried it on with every bottom in my closet!

But as I’ve discovered lately, sometimes your favorite jeans are just the best choice. The simple bottoms worked really well with the colorful embellished top and I like how many options this shirt gave me for styling – You could go for bright accessories, neutral hues, or even basic black.

Do you have fun styling a complicated piece like this embellished top?
