MCLV Style: Fabletics Leggings + CorePower Yoga

I found a winning combination this month – Fabletics leggings and CorePower Yoga!

Why is it such a killer combination?

So glad you asked… 🙂

My favorite style of leggings are ones with a print or bright color, but only on a part of the leggings. Half-and-half if you will.

I really like all-black for the majority of the legging – It’s slimming, flattering, and easy to match – But with a little something extra to make them visually interesting.

That’s an especially important distinction for a professional black legging collector like myself…

In all truth, I may need to start setting some activewear shopping limits for myself in the coming year. I have one of those hanging closet organizers for my gym clothes in the hall closet at home and of the six sectionals, three of them are filled with black leggings.

I mean. Some of them have, like, a stripe… So that helps, right…? Right?

Anyway – These ones combine two very important factors. They’re cute and they’re comfortable. And you know what? I’ve never been asked so many times where an item was from!

I wore them to CorePower Yoga after having them over-nighted from Fabletics and five people at the studio asked about them, and I got stopped twice on the street!

Do YOU have a favorite style of legging? Color scheme or print?

MCLV Style: Rita Ora Leggings

When it comes to gym-time, I tend towards darker colors.

Yes, I’m a long-time devotee of black outside of the gym, but that’s actually not the reason for my love of darker hues during workouts. They don’t show the wear & tear of your workout quite as much as lighter colors – Sweat, spills, chalk, they’re all camouflaged a bit by black!

So as soon as these unbelievable Rita Ora for Adidas Smoke Leggings arrived I knew I was going to be pairing them with something on the dark side. I ended up layering black & grey Zella tanks for the perfect workout look.

And yes, I am a complete Zella junkie. I can’t help it. It’s the first thing I check for when there’s a Nordie’s sale!

The other Must Have of mine that’s in these shots is my favorite water bottle. Between my apartment, my gym bag, and my desk at work I have quite a collection of Klean Kanteen and Camelbak water bottles. I always have one on hand!

How would YOU style these leggings?

MCLV Style: Animal Prints

Nothing in the world is easier and more comfortable for a Saturday full of errands than leggings and a tunic. The main pieces in this look are the definition of basic black.

In order to keep the look from being boring I spiced it up with my new oversized orange+cheetah BCBG clutch, zebra print smoking flats, and a vintage elephant pendant. Cheetah, zebra, and elephant, you say? Now that’s not so basic!

Are you a fan of mixing prints? What about mixing animal prints like I did here? How many different prints is too many in your opinion?

MCLV Style: Embellish Me

Fun accessories and embellished pieces are a great way to take a basic look to a new level. So next time you’re putting together a nighttime look be creative and layer on the extras!

This outfit could have just been black skirt + black top but with the addition of brightly colored tights, an embellished collar, fun jewelry, and spiked heels it’s a more one-of-a-kind look. But I did discover that the downside of this too-cute pleated faux leather skirt from The Limited is that it wrinkles sooooo easily. And quickly. Thus the absence of straight-on shots!

What’s your favorite fun extra this Winter or the piece you’re most excited to try out?

MCLV Style: Animalistic

Northern California is all about layering during the Fall – The mornings may start off foggy with a chill in the air only to end up in the mid seventies with the sun beating down on you by lunchtime. Since moving to San Francisco I’ve become something of a self-taught layering expert.

This ended up being the perfect amount of layers, I could easily unzip the moto jacket to get some air, and take it off completely when it got too warm. We spent the day wandering around Sonoma Square and enjoying wine tastings, window shopping, and a tasty lunch at The Girl And The Fig.

Do you like to wear multiple lighter-weight layers when the weather starts to get colder in the Fall/Winter? Or do you prefer to wear thicker outerwear during the chillier seasons?
