MCLV Style: Little Black Dress with a Twist

When someone asks me to describe my person style, I inevitably fall back on the following phrase – Classic with a twist.

little black dress is a staple in any woman’s wardrobe – It’s perfect for everything from cocktail parties to weddings to nights out on the town.

But it’s so much more than that!

The inevitable appropriateness of the classic little black dress in most settings isn’t the only reason my closet is filled with them.

I would actually say that my favorite thing about a great LBD is that it’s the perfect blank slate for creating an outfit.

When you have a high quality dress that you feel great in – You can take it in any direction. Tennis shoes and a pony tail for a more casual daytime spin on the look, or with ski high heels and a red lip for date night.

Or, if you’re in the mood to mix things up, you can try out layered necklaces and ankle booties like I wore here!

What’s YOUR favorite way to style a little black dress?

In For The Night

NYE doesn’t have to be a big production. Whether you’re sitting around a fire with your family, snowbound with your main squeeze, or chilling with a great book, you can still be stylish. As a PJ addict I have an endless supply of night shirts, pajamas, onesies, and nightgowns for once I’m in for the night.

MCLV Style: Boho Fashion

Long-sleeved dresses are something that I always keep an eye out for. Specifically, long-sleeved dresses that work for evenings. There are an endless variety of styles out there, but with a long-sleeved silhouette you can often skip the coat which can be nice on occasion.

Don’t get me wrong, I adore outerwear – Really – But not having to worry about forgetting your coat is always a bonus.

For it’s next outing I decided on a bohemian-meets-ladies-who-lunch style. What does that mean exactly?

Giant hat.

Tiny bag.

Killer heels.

MCLV Style: Girls Night Out Fashion

There are all sorts of evenings worth dressing up for, but there is none as sacred as Girls Night Out. This is a time-honored tradition marked by gossip, laughter, story-telling, and – Most importantly – Killer style.

The collective personality of the group of girls definitely dictates the dress code. Work friends? You’ll probably want something a bit more conservative – You want to show off your personal style and shed your work persona, but you don’t want to give them anything to talk about at the office come Monday morning.

Long time friends? No pressure. Jeans, heels, and a great top are just what the bartender ordered.

Have a fun night planned to try out a new restaurant or cozy up to the bar at your town’s newest hot spot? Toss aside those jeans and slip into a little black dress!

I found this gorgeous little BCBGMaxAzria number over on the Twice website.

What’s Twice you ask? It’s a fabulous San Francisco start-up that lets you sell your clothes or shop online. I sent in a giant bag of clothes recently and once the credits hit my account, I was able to shop all the killer cocktail dresses on their site.

Stay tuned for another fab find from Twice!

I love me some leather – Obviously – But I’ll always put my own spin on it to make the look my own. My personal style will never be head-to-toe avant-garde or particularly edgy, but I like to mix pieces to create the perfect look. This fabulous textured, exposed zipper dress – Which I bought immediately after the shoot – Is perfection paired with classic pumps, a pop of red, and a clean white blazer.

Are YOU loving this Chaiken leather dress too?
