MCLV Style: Hippie Chic Maxi

When Spring rolls around I have a few annual traditions. There’s Spring Cleaning, there’s rearranging & purging my closets, and there’s – Drum roll please – The reemergence of my favorite maxi dresses.

It’s the most wonderful time of the year!

For me, the quickest way to feel effortlessly chic is a maxi dress or skirt. They’re the perfect combination of flirty, hippie chic, and timeless – I immediately feel put together and I never get tired of the subtle retro vibe.

I love dresses in general because they’re quick, one piece & you’re out the door. And a flowy maxi is all the more chic because they’re so versatile.

From the pool and hot Summer nights to music festivals and weekend errands – This is the answer to all of your Spring and Summer sartorial needs.

I think the other reason I find maxi dresses to be such an instant mood boost is that they remind me of being on vacation. Does anything say “I’m ready for umbrella drinks on the beach” quite like an ankle skimming, open-backed dress?

It just begs to be thrown over a bikini!

How do YOU feel about maxi styles? Are you a fan of the hippie chic vibe  for vacation like I am?

Maxi Skirts & Dresses

Maxi lengths are perfect for most of the year – Wear with sandals and a tank during the warm-weather months and add layers and boots for a great Fall style.

During the Summer I love maxi skirts and dresses for virtually all settings. Throw a boho inspired dress over your bathing suit on vacation, pair with killer heels and statement jewelry for a night out on the town, or add a basic tee & ballet flats for a great errand-running look.

They’re versatile, flirty, and ideal for nearly every situation this time of year – From the beach or pool to dinner out on the town to picnics and fun family events.

MCLV Style: Midi

I recently raved about my love of maxi length dresses so I thought I’d swiftly follow-up with a post filled with adoration about midi length skirts.

Because obviously I don’t want all the midi skirts and dresses in my closet to get jealous. 🙂

This length is so versatile that I’m finding it hard not to wear it constantly. If you’re anything like you’ve learned that it can be a challenge to find a skirt that looks equally amazing with flats and heels rather than just one or the other. Midi lengths and capri length pants – They’re my favorite & most versatile pieces.

I’m kind of loving the mixture of polka dots and florals here too – It gives the super sweet skirt a little bit of an edge to keep it from being too girly.

Do YOU like midi lengths as well?

Fall Must Have: Maxi

One of the perfect pieces to take you and your wardrobe from Summer-to-Fall this year is a maxi dress. They’re versatile and easy to layer so you can continue to wear them when the temperatures start to drop.

{If you’re not in the mood for a dress then a skirt is the next best option. A bold color or a fun fabric can add some serious punch to your look – This red pleated number from Beth Animal Print is one of my favorites this year!}

There’s nothing boring about the maxi dresses and maxi skirts out there this season. If you’re a girl who likes to make a statement then try a bright hue or a bold print. Prefer the classics? Stick with a black or neutral, but find one with a little something extra like a dramatic low back, romantic lace details, or an eye-catching hemline.

Once you’ve picked out your dress or skirt you can easily update your look from Summery to Fall-ready by swapping out your sandals for cute flats or ankle booties, and by layering on a sweater or jacket.

Tell me – What’s YOUR favorite way to wear a maxi?
