Looks of the Week

Welcome back to another Looks of the Week post. As tempting as it was to solely feature looks from New York Fashion Week I decided to save all of those for my NYFW Round-Ups, the first of which should be up later this week. So enjoy a little non-fashion month street style from around the globe!

One of my favorite trends right now are patterned pants – I’m absolutely mad about them. From Fall-ready plaids and tweeds, to the florals and sweet prints that’ll be all over the streets in the Spring. Wendy shows us how to winterize cropped pants with this fabulous bow & flower-printed look.

How much does this look make you ready for fall? The bag is pure fun, those earrings are killer, and that coat – SWOON.

You had me at Flamingos! This is a really fun, chic look, but it’s far from boring, the mixing of great prints means it has a fun retro vibe to it as well.

Denim on denim has never looked so chic. She even accessorized her jeans and chambray button-down perfectly with tassled nude heels, a snake skin tote, and a killer brass cuff.

There are few things that I love more than a shorts suit. Except maybe a patterned shorts suit. And if you’re worried that florals or another all-over print will come off too sugary sweet, style it this way – the black shirt and bold silver accessories are a unique twist and the tights and buckle-adorned platform boots give this look a touch of rock n’ roll!

This is a gorgeous colored skirt & matching top. The hue suits her to perfection and the fun textured fabric adds a little something to the too cute Tibi ensemble.

How adorably retro is this? I love this bright cat print blouse, it’s chic but still a fun, unique piece. And those shorts are fabulously retro, they suit her to a T.

Wow. She looks jaw droppingly gorgeous in this pink Gucci gown. It’s not a look I would traditionally pick out for her – it’s a more feminine than she usually favors – but she looks stunning.

What your favorite way to transition into Fall from a sartorial standpoint? Trading in your shorts and skirts for cropped pants? Mixing Summer and colder-weather pieces? Or do you completely switch gears when the weather starts to get cooler?

New York Fashion Diary

While I didn’t have the honor of attending any of the New York Fashion Week Spring 2013 shows – SOB – I was lucky enough to spend four days in the city that never sleeps right before the shows, parties, and FNO kicked off, and it gave me a unique chance to witness the city amping up to the fashionable frenzy that is Fashion Month.

And please believe me when I say that four days of glorious walking , exploring, shopping, eating, drinking, and aimless wandering are this city were four days very well spent!

{A little jewelry shopping at the MET – We definitely got some funny looks!}

{Yes, we are complete and utter nerds. Since 7th grade.}

{Lincoln Center, Far West Chelsea, Meatpacking District}

We also ate at three vegan restaurants, walked through Central Park twice, sprinted through Central Park once, and had a little quality retail therapy in Soho.

Check out my previous NYC posts to see what else I was up to during this trip: Weekends Away – Styling, Deciding & Packing, IFBCON Preparation, MCLV Style: IFBCON Day One, IFBCON – Trends, Styles & Inspiration, and MCLV Style: IFBCON Day Two.

When you travel to a city during a trip do you like to do “touristy” things like go to museums? Do you like to walk around a new city to get to know it and familiarize yourself with the neighborhoods?

Style File: Poppy Delevingne

Welcome back to a new Style File Look!

It’s been a while since I put together one of these posts, but this recent look from British model & fashionista Poppy Delevingne really caught my attention so I’m here today to share it with you.

{Poppy Delevingne shot by Altamira: Models Off Duty}

What I love about this look is that it’s chic and well put together, but it’s also exceptionally versatile. It could easily go from a daytime look to nighttime, just as well as it could go from a Ladies Who Lunch outing to – well – Fashion Week in Berlin.

Lace Patterned Dress

Black Marano Glitter Clutch by Anya Hindmarch

Chunky Grey Sandals

You could put together a similar look to this one by either belting a fun printed dress or combining separates – From the same brand or you could get creative and mix n’ match different patterns.

MaxMara Studio Uruguay Dress

Tahari by Arthur S. Levine Belted Ruffle Dress

Dorothy Perkins Black & White Print Dress

This is also the type of look that could translate easily from black & white to color quite well, you just need to make sure that you’re sticking with a subtle pattern, a bold print and bold color together will make the look overly busy.

DKNY Royal Blue Belted Swing Dress

What’s your favorite part about Poppy’s fun look for Berlin Fashion Week? The subtle all-over pattern or the way she paired an understated Hugo Boss frock with fun, modern grey heels and a hippie-chic silver necklace?

NYFW Fall 2012 – Street Style & Front Row Fashion

One of the best parts of Fashion Week is getting the chance to see what all the fashion insiders (designers, models, editors, celebrities, buyers, photographers, writers…) wear to the shows and the looks they put together for the seemingly endless parade of events, dinners, parties, store openings, and galas over the course of the week. As breathtaking as the runway shows are, the vast majority of the looks aren’t exactly “street ready,” so that makes it especially fun to see how real people can wear the types of pieces we see on the runways.

Mr. Kors had QUITE the fan club in his front row - Fashion icon Angelica Houston, actresses Debra Messing and Paula Patton, gorgeous newcomer Amber Heard and new mom Jessica Alba.

Ashley Smith & Lindsey Wixson at the Annabelle Dexter Jones x Faith Connexion Dinner. I like Ashley's hair and Lindsay's dress.

Damn she's good! I can't decide if I love the chic, twisted burnt orange frock or the layered gold & gem necklace more... Necklace I think! No, bag!

Great blue dresses in the front row of BCBG from Giada De Laurentis & Maria Menounous, really beautiful, flattering colors.

Stylist Robert Verdi looked the part in various shades of grey and a stunning two-tone coat. Um... Can I borrow your bag?

Sort of reminds me of my grey look… But prettier! 🙂

I always look forward to seeing Poppy, she consistently wears something fun and different, no cookie-cutter nonsense for this girl! So what does she wear to the Richard Chai show? Low-key skinnies, a cute Fair Isle sweater & booties. Casual but chic.

Jennifer Nettles was a site for sore eyes at the Peter Som Fall 2012 Show. I love that she was February-appropriate in great tweed & a faux leather pencil skirt, but the bright cobalt pumps stole the show & moved her look up to perfect for the front row!

Amazing. No words.

Who wore the Prabal Gurung floral satin pants better? Zoe Saldana above or Joan Smalls?

Caroline Sieber's look was picture perfect, I especially love the mixing of similarly colored patterns & fabrics. Very chic.

Hanneli does it again, looking impossibly chic in a striped T and an upside down Acne skirt that I must own.

I'm LOVING the plaid suit here. Rarely does Miss Palermo get out-fashioned, but Zoe pulls it off here.
