Movie Fashion Inspiration: Atonement

For the first two installations of the Movie Fashion Inspiration series I shares some serious classic movie fashion porn. Charade is filled with custom-made Givenchy for Audrey and To Catch A Thief is a whirlwind of gowns, jewelry, and impeccably tailored suits.

After those two Old Hollywood masterpieces, I wanted to praise the costuming for a more modern movie. 2007’s Atonement was one of those movies that you watch with slack-jawed amazement. I kept thinking “this has to be the most beautiful scene,” but then the next scene would appear and I’d say the same thing again. The scenery, the costumes, the drama – It was a really breathtaking film.

The fashion was nearly as stunning as the backdrops and Keira Knightley’s green silk gown became an instant classic. Keep scrolling for some of my favorite looks from this cinematic dream.

Movie Fashion Inspiration: Charade

Welcome to a new MCLV series – In the Movie Fashion Inspiration series I’ll be sharing some of my favorite movies from a sartorial standpoint. From fabulous classics like Charade, Breakfast At Tiffany’s, and Rear Window to newer flicks like Atonement, Clueless, and The Devil Wears Prada.

I was raised on a strict diet of Hitchcock movies which meant that my childhood was spent falling in love with Audrey Hepburn, Natalie Woods, Cary Grant, Jimmy Stewart, Grace Kelly, and Gregory Peck.

One of my all-time favorite movies is Charade with Cary Grant and Audrey Hepburn, keep scrolling for some of my top fashion picks from the movie!

I love this marigold hued boatneck dress with the black bow belt. Classic, flattering for her boyish figure, and the perfect juxtaposition to his timeless suit.

One of the staples every woman should have in her wardrobe is a classic, tailored trench coat. Bonus points for going incognito with oversized sunnies and a headscarf.

I mean, really?

The neckline of this coat. The color. The hat. Head-to-toe fabulous, I would wear this look in a heartbeat for this year.
