MCLV x A by Anubha | Outerwear Edit

I am a very serious and dedicated lover of outerwear – Which you’ve probably discerned by now – So I was excited to show off the latest Spring/Summer collection from local brand A by Anubha.

Anubha Srivastav is based here in the Bay Area and her designs, under the A by Anubha label, are made with a hand-woven, eco-friendly Indian textile called Khadi.

Khadi is not just a cloth, it is a whole movement started by Mahatma Gandhi (Mohandas Karamchand Gandhi), Khadi movement aimed at boycotting foreign goods and promoting Indian goods. Thereby improving India’s economy. Mahatma Gandhi began promoting spinning of Khadi for rural self-employment and self-reliance. Even today Khadi is produced in the villages of India by the rural artisans, Khadi Village Industries is one of the oldest Indian government organizations created to provide employment to the artisans and craftsmen of Indian villages.

MCLV Style: Trench Coat

Finding the perfect trench coat has been on my To Do List for a while now. It’s one of those pieces that just makes an outfit. With one quick additional your look is polished and ready to go.

So what was I looking for in the trench of my dreams? I toyed with the idea of either a black coat and a long version. I went so far as to order this DKNY maxi trench and this Ellen Tracy black trench coat.

They were both great, however, deep down, I think I knew that I really wanted a classic khaki trench.

When I saw this Rag & Bone Trench Coat on The Real Real it was love at first sight. It’s exactly what I wanted – Classic, but with a twist. The buttons are the perfect little extra to give it a fun new spin.

I can’t stop wearing it!

MCLV Style: Plaid Jacket

You know when you have a new piece in your closet and you can’t help but plan outfits around it? I’m currently in the midst of a love affaire with this red & black checkered jacket. I originally got this baby for a “glamping” themed office party in October and have been wearing it ever since.

Kat and I shot these pictures on the Embarcadero during our walk home from an oh-so-sweet Friendsgiving celebration that Jen of Just Add Glam hosted at Style Lend HQ in SOMA. We decided to walk along the water and chat after the festivities and couldn’t help snapping a few shots.

And as smitten as I am with this fun plaid jacket, these accessories very nearly stole the spotlight. These gold heeled booties from JustFab are incredibly comfortable and I still can’t stop carrying my Givenchy Antigona Satchel. But the stand out piece just might be the Kamryn Dame Miner Choker from Les Mechantes. This necklace is on serious repeat right now!

What’s YOUR favorite piece right now?

Coat Dress with A by Anubha

Is it a dress? It’s it a coat? Does it matter?

When we started this A by Anubha shoot all of the outerwear was laid out in my bedroom. With all the beautiful fabrics and divine colors spread out in front of me I immediately went for this piece.

Everything about this piece makes it wholly unique – The classic silhouette, the flattering neckline, the combination of fabrics and colors, the covered buttons.

Here I’m wearing it with simple accessories and my favorite go-with-everything peep-to booties, but you could easily kick things up a notch with statement jewelry and high-octane extras like lipstick red stilettos.

Have YOU ever worn a Coat Dress?

Textures with A by Anubha

When a look really comes together it speaks to the observer. Something about it reaches out to you and appeals to your senses.

With this coat when immediately stuck me was the combination of textures – The rich colors, reach-out-and-touch-them fabrics, and eye-catching details like the contrasting piping all come together to create a beautiful, couture-feeling piece that’s truly unique.

I was excited to add these velvet Max Studio pumps to my textured look. They’re the epitome of a “Statement Shoe” and I look forward to occasions worthy of pulling them out of my closet.

Between the luxurious fabric and intricate silver filigree heel, they’re the perfect sumptuous finishing touch for this Fall look.

As soon as I saw this coat I knew what was going underneath.

Sometimes a slim pant is the perfect way to complement killer outerwear, but this oxblood faux pony hair dress from Press for Piperlime was made for this coat.
