I was introduced to Amour Vert by Kathleen of KatwalkSF, who hosted an event at their Walnut Creek location. At the event I got a chance to hear more about the company and browse their timeless pieces.

The founder, Linda Balti, created the company after realizing that fashion was the second most polluting industry in the world. Amour Vert “green love” was created with an eco-friendly goal in mind, plus American manufacturing, non-toxic dyes, sustainable fabrics, and a zero-waste philosophy.

“A woman should never have to sacrifice style for sustainability. Our choices matter – smart fashion is our future.”

I was hooked!

The first thing that I tried on was this Dandelion print shift dress – I love the play of youthful freshness with the cut and print of this dress against the ‘I am woman, hear me roar’ drama of the thigh-high suede boots.

Even in a flat variation, these Vince Camuto over-the-knee boots make a powerful statement. They go with everything – Jeans, dresses, leggings – And are the sartorial equivalent of an exclamation point. They make a basic outfit look chic and take a fun look to a whole new level.

What could be better? {Okay, yes, I’m basically writing a love letter to my boots}

Do YOU have a favorite sustainable fashion brand?

MCLV Style: Nighttime Over-The-Knee Boots

A few weeks ago I shared a typical weekend look with you featuring cozy corduroy pants, my favorite Splendid long-sleeved tee, and these fabulous over-the-knee boots.

Today I wanted to show you just how easy it is to transition a fun piece like these boots from daytime to nighttime.

I traded in my skinny corduroy pants for a cute skater skirt with faux leather paneling {Yes – It’s another Nordstrom’s Junior Department find!} and an oversized fuzzy coat to ward off the crisp nighttime air.

What’s so great about these fabulous nighttime over-the-knee boots is that they go with everything! I wore them on my recent trip to New York with leggings, they look great over tights with a dress, and make a daytime look pop with jeans.

What are YOUR thoughts on over-the-knee boots?

MCLV Style: Daytime Over-The-Knee Boots

I can’t think of very little that’s more luxurious to me than being able to set my own weekend schedule. I rarely plans things for Saturday and Sunday mornings so that I can do precisely what strikes my fancy for a few hours.

So what does a MCLV weekend morning usually entail?

The best factors for me on weekends are being relaxed, but still productive. I love waking up without an alarm clock – Although I’ve always been an early riser, nothing beats an all-natural wake-up!

After that I’ll get dressed without thinking at all – i.e. Throwing on my weekend uniform – And then head to a coffee shop for a few hours of quality time with my laptop & iPad.

My weekend uniform changes from season to season and has definitely evolved over the years. Right now that means jeans or slim fitting pants, boots, and a tunic or sweater paired with a jacket or cropped blazer. This is the perfect chance to throw on my favorite over-the-knee boots. I love that this style of boot has gone from Pretty Woman to fashion staple!

On a related note, I can’t get enough of this long-sleeved top. I ordered it during the killer end of year sale at Piperlime and now I want it in every single color – It’s soft, comfortable, and flattering.

What’s YOUR weekend uniform?

MCLV Style: Animalistic

Northern California is all about layering during the Fall – The mornings may start off foggy with a chill in the air only to end up in the mid seventies with the sun beating down on you by lunchtime. Since moving to San Francisco I’ve become something of a self-taught layering expert.

This ended up being the perfect amount of layers, I could easily unzip the moto jacket to get some air, and take it off completely when it got too warm. We spent the day wandering around Sonoma Square and enjoying wine tastings, window shopping, and a tasty lunch at The Girl And The Fig.

Do you like to wear multiple lighter-weight layers when the weather starts to get colder in the Fall/Winter? Or do you prefer to wear thicker outerwear during the chillier seasons?

Looks of the Week: Pants Edition

This Looks of the Week post is going to be all about PANTS. As you’re stocking up your wardrobe for Fall you’re going to be seeing lots of pants in stores – Every variety you can imagine, from faux leather and brilliantly colored brocades to plaids, stripes, and collegiate tweeds. So before you find yourself standing in front of racks and racks of pants feeling overwhelmed, why not spend some quality time getting inspired by how other fashionable ladies are wearing theirs this season?

Embellished or studded pants are a fun style for weekends. You can go full-on rock n’ roll or you can keep things polished with a trench and classic white button down like in this shot. The look is chic and timeless, but still has an edge.

Holiday sweaters don’t have to be tacky – They can just as easily be the kind of cute pieces that you look forward to wearing all year! This oversized reindeer sweater paired with black leggings and cute flat booties is the perfect look for the holiday season. Festive but oh-so-cute.

If you’re brave enough for a bold animal print than this is the look for you. Take a tip from Lysana, she keeps the look from being over-the-top with minimal chunky gold accessories, a basic black sweater, and cute flat boots.

If you’re thinking about what styles of pants are work-appropriate this shot is a great example of how to make a slim pair of pants fit that bill. Her killer styling keeps the look fun, but still formal enough for a business casual office. The over-the-shoulder bag and similarly colored knee-high boots are the perfect accessories while the chic tweed blazer from H&M tops the look off perfectly.

Plaid shirts aren’t just for trips to the cabin anymore, with seriously cute versions available now you can pair one with virtually any bottoms for a chic, stylish weekend look. This look is spiced up all the more with lacy Dolce & Gabbana ankle boots and a killer Proenza Schouler handbag.

They may say “No White After Labor Day” but this amazing white-pants look will change your mind in a heartbeat. The mixture of prints, colors, and textures makes this look fun and interesting – Chambray polka dot blouse, leopard print heels, a red knit sweater, and white denim all come together to make the perfect look.
