Crop Top: Ladylike Layering

After showing off this fun, hippie chic crop top look last week, I’m back today to give you another style idea for this purplemaroon crop top.

Flowy maxi skirts are always fun, but sometimes you need a little more structure in your life – Enter ladylike layering!

What I liked about this ladylike layering technique is that not only are you creating a fresh new style unique to you, but you’re giving your clothes more street time because you can wear them in so many chic different ways.

I wore this strapless Asos checkered dress last year in a completely different way, so it’s fun to wear it again! Check out Checkered Dress Part I and Part II to see how easy it is to mix and match.

Crop Top: Boho Chic

A fabulous San Francisco brand that I’m excited to have discovered this year is purplemaroon. If that name sounds familiar you may be remembering the chic little backless dress that I wore during my Spring vacation in Greece earlier this year.

I’m excited to be teaming up with purplemaroon to bring you not only some fun new crop top styling ideas, but a killer giveaway that you’re going to be dying to enter!

So for my first crop top styling experience I went with flowy, hippie chic. I love maxi skirts so I pulled this Express jersey maxi out of my closet to put together a black-on-black-on-black look.

With some layered gold jewelry to break things up mais bien sur!

And before you ask – No, I do not know why my hand is on my head in every single picture. Maybe it was especially windy that day?

Yes, let’s go with that.

MCLV Style: Backless Dress

During my recent trip to Crete {read my travel diary here} my suitcase was primarily made up of comfortable clothes and activewear {Spring Break: Packing}. The amazing trip consisted of daily runs, hiking, diving, and road trips, so there was little necessity for chic separates or little black dresses.

Scarf – Saako

What I couldn’t resist packing however was this sweet little backless dress from purplemaroon. This new San Francisco-based company has recently put out their first collection – A lovely round-up of easy separates and breezy dresses. Everything is simple, versatile, and easy to style. Three characteristics that I always look for when I’m shopping.

And what better way to make this beauty pop than with a scarf from Saako Designs, another SF-based company, and the most beautiful background imaginable?

In these shots I’m in front of the house we rented in the grape vine & olive tree covered hills above Heraklion in Crete.

And the very special bonus?

My father, a longtime lover of photography, decided to try his hand at fashion blogging photography, and captured this gorgeous dress for me. I’m not sure if I’ve posed for him since I was a sullen teenager who’s growl was practically coming through on film, but it was fun to twirl out on the hill while he snapped away.
