The Nordstrom Anniversary Sale is something that I quite literally mark on the calendar each year. I start adding items to my basket towards the end of Spring to cover all of my Summer picks.
You know, to make sure that I don’t forget anything…
I just feel like there are SO MANY things to shop for this time of year. Outfits for weddings and vacation and weekends away. Plus gifts for showers and hosts and events. And I also love this sale because it’s the perfect time to drag the boys in your life who refuse to shop down to Nordstrom to get it all out-of-the-way in a single trip. Hopefully you can get them through the sale before the tears start. {Yes, I’m talking about grown men.}
I’m not one for lines. Doesn’t matter if it’s a new restaurant a book signing or a limited edition fashion collaboration – You’re not going to find me waiting.
Enter online shopping – Not only are there no lines, but I can do it from the comfort of my home in my coziest pajamas, glass of Cabernet Sauvignon in hand.
So, for those of you who appreciate the comforts of online shopping as much as I do, here are some fabulous sales from Cyber Week that you’ll LOVE.
Ann Taylor – Use the code CELEBRATE to receive 50% of your entire purchase. I’m a fan of the Ann Taylor Shift Dresses, a classic piece for the office, so this is a perfect time to stock up.
Milly – 20% on Black Friday with the code BF2015. The Milly Wythe Mixed Media Crossbody Flap Bag is currently on my Must Have list and I’m hoping to grab it on Friday. Black, white & cobalt blue – My favorite color combination!
Nasty Gal – 40% off & an extra 30% off markdowns on Black Friday. See my top picks up at the top of this post!
It’s that time again… Labor Day weekend sale shopping is officially here. And just in time because this girl is seriously ready for Fall and all the fabulous new pieces that are out there!
So which stores have the best sales this weekend? Read on…
{Full disclosure – I got these during the BR friends & family sale and I’m obsessed. Just picked them up in another style and color. Sloan for Fall my friends, Sloan for Fall!}
I’m a Nordies girl through and through. I have great memories of trips with my mom when I was a kid {She used to bribe me to go to the dentist with shopping trips} and I still remember the first time I saw the multi-floor elevator at the giant Nordstrom in San Francisco’s Westfield Mall.
These days the Anniversary and Half Annual Sales are basically holidays in my mind. My excited inner child comes out but still has grown up mostly grown up Caity’s debit card to play with. Read on for a few of my top picks for this year’s Anniversary Sale broken down by department.
Women:
One of my current favs for the office is Eliza J so I picked up a couple of work appropriate dresses this week. What I love about this brand is that the dresses are flattering but demure – They’re a decent length, well made, and I always get compliments when I wear one which never hurts. 🙂
I’m on a mission for cute, comfortable flat shoes right now so I headed straight to the shoe section. I’ve had great success with Sam Edelman so I swooped up these adorable Paige Fringed Ankle Booties.
No Nordstrom trip would be complete without a Zella stop. I have tons of Lululemon in my closet. And Lorna Jane. And Nike. But Zella is my favorite workout brand – Their Live In Leggings are amazing and I love the length of their Racerback Tanks. I have a long torso and hate the idea of flashing skin mid-workout, these always keep me covered!
I was THRILLED to discover that one of my favorite skin care brands is available, and on sale, at Nordies. If you haven’t heard of Bay Area based eco-friendly Algenist you can read my rave reviews here. I’m currently obsessed with their super lightweight sunscreen {Ultra Lightweight UV Defense Fluid SPF 50} and loving my latest buy – Retinol Firming & Lifting Serum.
Whether you’re shopping for your signification other, outfitting your dad, or getting a gift for a brother or friend – There are some good picks to sort through.
While the kids section didn’t used to be on my radar – Now I always take a look because I have a niece and a nephew to spoil. And another nephew due in September!
At the beginning of October I shared my Fall 2012 Must Haves, which included eye-catching patterns & prints, faux leather, fun pants, tweed pieces, asymmetrical details, and the color de jour for Fall – Oxblood.
It’s easy to see pictures from the Fall 2012 collections and put together a mental list of all the things you want, and then give up in frustration because you can’t afford straight-from-the-runway pieces. But I’m here to tell you that we can very easily update your wardrobe for Fall without having to dip into your 401k. I promise!
I like to get one or two great new investment pieces each season – something like an updated but classic Little Black Dress, a chic new handbag, or a timeless trench – but I’ll also collect a handful of fun, on-trend pieces from less expensive stores that quickly update my looks for the season. There are great stores like Zara, ASOS, H&M, and TopShop were you can find trendy, well-made pieces each season for a steal. Read on for some of my personal suggestions & recommendations as well as a collection of great articles that’ll steer you in the right direction for all of your Fall 2012 needs.
I have to confess that some of my favorite places to shop are the Spanish retailers that I was first introduced to when I lived in Italy at the age of 21 – H&M, Mango, and Zara. The clothing is stylish and well-made, but doesn’t cost a fortune and the collections are updated frequently so there’s always something new in stores and online.
Where Do Editors Really Shop from Refinery 29 is just the sort of article that I love to read – Knowing where the most fashionable and stylish women in the fashion world shop is like being handed the keys to the kingdom! And wouldn’t you know it, along with the high-end designers that you’d expect them to mention, they also list great inexpensive shopping destinations like E-bay, Target, Zara, Amazon, Madewell, J.Crew, TopShop, JewelMint, ShoeMint, and even The Salvation Army. Great news, isn’t it?
The Glitter Guide’s Caitlin’s Budget Buys: Fall Essentials Under $80 includes fabulous beauty & fashion finds from Target, TopShop, Old Navy, Dorothy Perkins, Christian Siriano for Payless, ASOS, L’Oreal, and Sole Society.
Another lucky break for us fashion obsessed is that more and more high-end designers have been coming out with reasonably priced collections for retailer giants like Payless, Target, and Macys.
{Long-sleeve Shirt Dress in Red Geometric Print – $40 @ Kirna Zabete for Target, Long-Sleeve Satin Blazer – $60 (on sale) @ Nicole Richie for Impulse & Racquel Side Zip Bootine – $50 @ Christian Siriano for Payless}
Lucky Magazine’s 100 Cheap Fall Finds is a trove of fun Fall pieces from printed pants and embellished collars to chic dresses and leather trimmed jackets. In addition to featuring clothing from Luckymag.com, they included other retail websites like Romwe.com, Pixiemarket.com, Urban1972.com, Levis.com, and Ulta.com.
Two of the trends that I’m most excited for this Fall are printed pants and leather-trimmed pieces and luckily for all of us the fun website The Cheap Chica’s Guide to Style featured fabulous recommendations for both trends – Geometry Class & Just The Sleeves Please. So no matter what type of fashion you’re in the mood for this site has what you’re looking for!
The less expensive secondary lines created by designers and sold at department stores like Bloomingdale’s, Macys, Nordstrom, and Kolh’s are great pieces to keep an eye out for.
{Left to Right: Marc by Marc Jacobs ‘Jac’ Denim Leggings – $140 @ Nordstrom, MICHAEL Michael Kors Sleeveless Cowl Neck Banded Bottom Dress – $45 (on sale) @ Bloomingdale’s, and LC Lauren Conrad Embellished Ruffle Tee – $40 @ Kohl’s}
Not quite sure how to approach stores like Nordstrom Rack, TJ Maxx, Marshall’s, or Ross? Refinery 29 took it upon themselves to teach us how in their piece Discount Shopping – How To Shop At Marshalls where they had three different editors put together 6 cute looks under $50. Wow!
Waiting for stores to have announce a big sale is a great way to find the pieces you’re craving without paying full-price. Not sure just how to make this tactic work for you?
