San Francisco Fashion: Stylematic Runway Show

I’ve mentioned the fun new San Francisco-based fashion app Stylematic in the past {Stylematic: San Francisco Fashion App & Join Me – Stylematic Launch Party} and today I want to give you a peek into their grand launch party last week.

The Stylematic Launch Party was everything that I love about San Francisco – People with different backgrounds coming together to support a fledgling start-up with a great party and – Of course – Some killer fashion.

It was a great evening filled with inspiration and serious fashion eye-candy.

The keynote speakers were exceptional – Sinead Norenius of iFabbo represented a fashion & beauty dynasty created online and made popular through social media and blogging, and Hap Klopp, founder of The North Face, a fashion-meets-tech staple for anyone who loves the Great Outdoors. Both speakers inspired and reminded me of just how many amazing companies and visionaries have come out of the Bay Area.

The designers for the evening included the following San Francisco fashion favorites:

  • re-creation by Carol Wong
  • Dhanya Gutta
  • Tribee by Marissa Lucero
  • Maricella Olague
  • Trades Rogue  by Nathaniel Smith
  • CCUOCO  by Candice Cuocco
  • Anubha Design by Anubha Srivastav
  • Dekonti (Jewelry) by Deepa Seneviratne
  • Horizon Shirt by Tomo Saito
  • Ellie (chief designer Mari Tibbetts)
  • Lan Jaenicke
  • Betabrand

One of the evening’s highlights was the Betabrand presentation. Not only did we get to hear from the entertaining & self-deprecating founder of the Betabrand Empire, the audience also got a chance to cheer as most of his team hit the runway in bold, eye-catching pieces with gold and silver embellishments.

I’m also thrilled to say that proceeds from the event went to benefit One World Children’s Fun – An amazing organization that supports local grassroots groups on the ground in impoverished areas around the world.

San Francisco Designers: Snow 5

I recently attended the fabulous Snow 5 Runway Show at the Metreon here in San Francisco. A chic affaire featuring up-and-coming local designers and supporting the non-profit ‘GO’ which empowers women to escape poverty.

I was blown away by the five head-to-toe white collections that were shown, it was such a beautiful experience sitting in the huge, window filled room with a large white runway down the center and rows upon rows of fashion lovers all dressed in the color de jour – White!

Neide Hall started off the evening’s festivities showing a line of fabulous swimsuits, fun cover-ups, and vacation-ready resortwear for Charmosa Swimwear.

Carmen Baldwin’s CarMenchie offerings included everything from sweet retro-inspired cocktail dresses to elegant evening wear, all with great styling and bold neon peach shadow for the models.

Cana Klebanoff‘s androgynous, avant-garde menswear pieces were minimal but eye-catching. I could definitely see mixing & matching some of these separates for Spring 2014.

Dramatic textures & bold fabrics ruled the day for Joseph Domingo with iridescent fringe, feathers, bubbling ruffles, lace, and sequins all making an appearance.

And one of my favorites this evening was the chic, timeless collection shown by Julie Schindler – From smart skirt suits to stylish outerwear to the perfect little white dress – I would have worn every piece that made an appearance on this runway!

So what does one wear when the dress code is “dress to impress” and it’s an all-white theme?

First – Have a heart attack when you realize that as much as you adore Winter White you own none because you’re too pale to wear white. Second – Suck it up and head out into the rainy February night in a short Summer shift dress.

The things I do for fashion! 🙂

Holiday Discoveries

I love the holidays – don’t get me wrong – but usually by mid-December I run out of steam & all I can do is day-dream about sleeping in, weekends without holiday parties & social obligations, or just taking a vacation from my non-stop life in general. And this year has been no different – However I found that I did a much better job of staying on top of my responsibilities this year so here are some photos of the fun things that kept me in the holiday spirit throughout November & December!

Lookbook

{I may not have made it out for the Christmas tree lighting – But I’ve made it to Union Square to take pictures in front of the giant tree not once, but twice this year. A+!}

Brands

{Shopping – online & in-stores – has been a major part of my life the last month or so. From Christmas presents to host & hostess gifts to completely unnecessary additions to my wardrobe.}

Collage

{Related to the shopping issues is the “attending events held IN shops” part of the last few months – From swoon worthy vintage jewelry trunk shows to Marrakech-inspired clothing lines that’ll make you yearn for Spring.}

Collage

{I was especially excited to attend the Harputs presents Camille K trunk show because it gave me a great opportunity to check out smaller, local clothing & jewelry shops.}

Collage

{An amazing visit to the Mountain View atelier for the fabulous vintage jewelry shop Camille K – Stay tuned for another solo post on this amazing trip!}

I’m looking forward to seeing what January has to hold for me though and I’m also looking forward to sharing the fun details with all of you as well!

Voyage To Marrakech

A big Thank You to The Factory and The Evans Group for the unbelievable trip to Marrakech last week – Who knew that in the streets of SOMA you could escape to the market stalls of exotic Morocco?

Voyage To Marrakech is an evening inspired by Yves Saint Laurent’s glamorous 1970’s lifestyle in Moroco to showcase their Spring 2013 Collection. An illuminated nighttime Marrakech marketplace, with cocktails, food, and music, and live photoshoot presentation, featuring live vignettes inspired by iconic YSL iconic photographs.

Stylish San Franciscans flocked to our own personal Marrakech last week to celebrate The Factory’s new collection inspired by the love affaire that YSL had with Marrakech.

{The looks that evening ran the gamut from ultra modern to vintage inspired to came-straight-from-the-office}

{Cocktails, mannequins sporting Yves Saint Laurent-inspired frocks, friends reuniting, fortune tellers…}

{And the models showed off a phenomenal Spring 2013 collection filled with sleek, shimmering fabrics, vintage patterns & prints, luxurious metallics, faux fur, relaxed silhouettes, and fun accessories}

{I wore a long-sleeved, high-neck vintage shift dress, Zara ankle strap heels, and a fabulous gold necklace from Sasha Maks Vintage}

{Check out more photographs from this event here – Just log into Facebook to view}

This was the fifth event that I’ve had the honor of attending at The Factory, check out my posts on the previous events below:
