House of CCUOCO Round-Up

I’ve had the honor of working with the amazing San Francisco-based House of CCUOCO over the past two years and wanted to celebrate this Bay Area company with a fun round-up of some of our shoots and lookbooks.

Getting a chance to work with Bay Area based brands, stores, and designers has been one of my favorite parts of becoming a blogger. And watching a friend create a business and find happiness and success in her venture never gets old!

MCLV Style: Stripes on Stripes

Stripes are a staple for me year around – A classic striped t-shirt goes with everything from straight leg jeans to a flirty little skater skirt.

When these retro Adidas Gazelle sneakers arrived I knew that I wanted to put together a casual weekend look. Something that I would wear to walk along the Embarcadero to the Ferry Building Farmer’s Market on a sunny Saturday morning.

Cute but comfortable, and easy to spend the day walking around in.

I love this split side striped tunic from Target is one of my go-to, easy weekend shirts. It’s great for layering and one of my favorite ways to wear it is paired with a button-down chambray shirt. I knew the top would pair really well with these sneakers so this look came together in no time!

What’s YOUR favorite way to wear stripes?

MCLV Style: Office Fashion

A colorful or printed dress is my standard style for the office.

In general, I like dresses for the office because it means one piece and you’re done. There are few things less appealing at 5am than trying to mix and match separates.

With a classic style like this BCBGMAXAZRIA number, it’s basically all that you need. Add some shoes – Like these neutral hued wedges – And some basic jewelry, and you’re good to go for the day.

The other great thing about this style dress for the office is that it’s a breeze to take from work to play. Just add a bold colored lip and a pair of killer heels, and you’re ready for a night out on the town.

MCLV Style: Adidas Fashion

Mixing and matching is a time-honored tradition in the fashion industry.

Think pajama-inspired silk oversized silk button-downs paired with boyfriend jeans for the weekend. Denim overalls reminiscent of your childhood uniform paired with crop tops and heels for a night out. Full A-line skirts pulled straight from a 50’s sitcom mixed with a sassy graphic tee and a bold statement necklace.

Fusing the unexpected is what trends are about. And finding the combination that works for YOU – For your body type, for your situation – Is what personal style is all about.

So how does a classically inclined, dress-dedicated woman go about incorporating a sweatshirt into her daily look? First step – Find the right sweatshirt. This retro inspired number is just about perfect – I love the old school insignia emblazoned across the chest, and the color scheme couldn’t be more ideal for me – Black, white & red for the win.

Step two – Mix and match. I considered throwing this baby over a maxi dress but was really taken by the combination of a flirty faux leather skater skirt paired with the classic sweatshirt. It gave the look a fun, and very me, silhouette.

Thank you to UK-based activewear retailer JD Sports for sponsoring this post. They have a great online selection including all your favorite brands, even the Rita Ora for Adidas line that I’ll be sharing some killer leggings from next week!

MCLV Style: Printed Shift Dress

An easy, flattering dress is a simple weekend uniform for me when it’s nice out. I’d estimate that roughly 1/3 of the dresses hanging in my dress closet {Yes – You read that right} are colorful, printed shifts.

So how do you pick your perfect throw-on-anytime-and-go dress?

For me it’s about a color or print that works with anything and coverage. My go-to dresses aren’t too short and always have sleeves. Throw a pashmina in my bag and a dress like this Lilly Pulitzer number is good to go almost year-round!

In fact, this dress is such a uniform that I was already wearing it when Miss Kat texted to see if I wanted to shoot street style. I just threw on my new favorite Maybelline lip color and was out the door in a few minutes.

Head over to KatwalkSF and check out the pictures that I took of her that day – Off The Shoulder.
