MCLV Style: Floral Shorts in L.A.

Last week I shared some of the amazing women that I met at Lucky FABB West {Lucky FABB: Bloggers You’ll Love} as well as my first look for the conference {Tribal Prints at Lucky FABB West} - For Day Two of the conference I doned this adorable floral shorts suit and snapped some fun photographs with Beth of Beth Animal Print in the hotel lobby.

{How ridiculously cute is this Just Fab bag? Tres chic!}

I ordered this shorts and blazer combo from Bloomingdale’s back in February and have been waiting with bated breath for an opportunity to wear it. What better place than Los Angeles in the Spring and what better venue than a Fashion Blogger conference? :)

Looks of the Week – Shorts Edition

Does anything scream warm weather quite like a pair of great fitting shorts? I didn’t wear shorts for YEARS and last Summer was the first time I picked up a pair since Junior High, and I already find myself excited to break them out again. So let’s get inspired by some of the great shorts looks that bloggers around the world – i.e. in warmer places than San Francisco – Have started putting together for Spring.

JeanShorts

{Does it get more classic than denim shorts and a striped tee? The perfect casual warm weather look.}

JeanShortsCutOffs

{Wearing heels with shorts can be a challenge, you want the look to be chic not desperate. A pair of neutral hued heels is a great choice because it elongates the legs. Not sure how to make it work for you? This look from Donatila Rose is picture perfect – The ideal length shorts, a stylish, oversized top, and cute nude peep-toes. Perfect!}

WinterShorts

{Is it still chilly where you live? Why not add some layers and some tights to make your shorts a little more palatable?}

PeplumShorts

{Are you an innovator? Why not try a fun new style pair of shorts like these yellow & white brocade peplum pair that Sincerely Jules makes look like Summer perfection? You can find a similar pair here from BCBGeneration.}

FloralShorts

{For the girlie-girls and floral lovers out there this season will make all your dreams come true with beautiful, feminine pairs of floral shorts like this gorgeous pair from Late Afternoon.}

CutOffShorts

{Short-shorts can be a cute Summer look if done right. Not sure where to start? Yumi has the answer!}

DSC_1491

{If you’re a fan of the throwback trend for overalls this Spring then you should try a pair of denim overall shorts – This look is a fun, stylish twist on this classic style. Great inspiration!}

Are you a fan of shorts once the weather warms up? Which of these looks is your favorite?

MCLV Style: New York City

New York City BABY!

As I’m sure you picked up, I was beyond excited for this trip – Seeing my best friend, attending IFBCON, and getting the chance to spend some quality time in NYC, a city that I’ve been having a love affaire with for years now.

When I was packing for my trip to New York I found myself in a quandary - it was going to be extremely hot and humid but I’m a fairly formal dresser. Luckily for my internal body temperature this was the first Summer that I’ve worn shorts since Junior High, so I packed a few pairs for the trip. But how to style them? Shorts & a tank might be an appropriate bathing suit coverup, but for walking down the streets of New York City? Definitely not!

So with that in mind I paired my exposed zipper shorts from Zara with a striped tee with a rhinestone embellished collar, tons of chunky silver jewelry, ankle strap heels, and an oversized envelope clutch. I was comfortable temperature-wise, but still felt stylish enough to strut my stuff all over Manhattan! :)

New York Fashion Week Spring 2013 – Street Style & Front Row Fashion

This is the final – finally – post on the Spring 2013 New York Fashion Week collections. During the first three posts we reviewed the NYFW institutions, the affordable “real women” lines, and the newbies to Fashion Week. Today’s post is all about the editors, actresses, bloggers, models, and fashion industry insiders during New York Fashion Week – What they wore to view the collections, running between the shows, and to the parties, store openings & celebration dinners.

{I absolutely adore this look. It’s chic and utterly put together, but still fun and youthful rather than being stiff and boring. Well done Miss Belle!}

{Low-key and casual, perfect for a muggy NYC day and comfortable enough to make it through the day without foot pain, fashion emergencies, or faux pas.}

{Quite the well put together outfit - I love the blouse, it suits her really well, and I’m a sucker for a great day clutch so this studded beauty really caught my eye.}

{So. Cute. I can’t imagine a more adorable or flatteringly age-appropriate little outfit for this young lady.}

{I kind of love Kelly’s look here. I’m not a huge fan of her recent hair color choices, but the bright colorblocking of this frock is lovely and that black & white checkered clutch was a brilliant choice.}

{I love the fresh, colorful prints she picked here, as well as the unique midi length hem. There’s something to be said for mixing & matching, no one else will ever show up in the same outfit!}

{LOVE! It’s fun and one-of-a-kind, totally Brad!}

{Great colors. Fabulous length. Utterly flattering silhouettes. Well done ladies, well done.}

Bloggers:

Bloggers do it better! :) The ladies who represented the blogger contingent in New York City did a fabulous job in brights, florals, prints, and eye-catching accessories.

{Such a gorgeous dress! Dark florals are one of my favorite ways to bridge the Summer-to-Fall gap and this is a great example of how to transition them. And Zara booties never hurt an outfit!}

{One way to make sure that you stand out in a crowd of bloggers, celebrities, and editors is to: (1) Look stunning (2) Wear stand-out hues that suit you to perfection & (3) Pile on the gorgeous statement jewelry}

{Great print & colors – And those double ankle strap heels are killer}

{Liz from Late Afternoon (left) and Laura from OnTheRacks (right) make quite the pretty picture in a fun, colorful array of separates paired with perfectly chosen, eye-catching accessories.}

JVP_3000
{Do blondes have more fun? Ask Shea {Cheyenne Meets Chanel}, Chiara {The Blonde Salad}, and Kristina {Kayture}. These lovely ladies all added some Summer white to their chic ensembles - from blazers & cropped leather jackets to pants & handbags.}
Models:
Can’t forget to include the great looks that are put together but the stunning ladies who strut their stuff on catwalks all over the world during Fashion Month!

{Sylish and chic! I love this look but I have NO IDEA how she was wearing a black blazer during NYFW, maybe she took it off after the pictures were taken?}

{This is a great laid back look. I adore the printed pants paired with the leopard print pieces, and the plain white tee paired with the dramatic statement necklace is another great choice.}

{LOVE THIS. It’s wild & crazy & fun – Just what fashion week is supposed to be all about!}

{I always look forward to shots of Karlie - I adore her street style, her runway walk, and how her personality always manages to shine through in a picture. Here’s yet another great example of her personal style from Mr. Newton!}

{How fabulous is this shot? I love her bike, her handbag, her helmet, and her low-key but chic style – Skinnies & a tank – perfect for a humid Summer day in New York.}

Constance Jablonski, Ginta Lapina and Karlina Caune Off Duty

{This is a great shot showing models doing something that they do best – Mixing & matching! These ladies are doing a great job of combining interesting and fun pieces to put together unique, fashionable looks.}

And last but hardly least, my favorite look from New York Fashion Week…

{I mean seriously? Can you imagine a more chic and stylish looking woman? She probably made half the women at this show cry and give up on fashion. Head-to-toe this is an amazing look – The red is striking and the gloves & pearls are such chic touches. J’adore!}

Emmy Drama

Nothing quite like a red carpet event to bring out the fashion drama in Hollywood! Here are my favorite picks from the main event, as well as the more low-key events that preceded it.

Emmy Awards Performers Nominee Reception Red Carpet:

It’s casual for the red carpet, but it’s a great Little Black Dress that’s flattering, chic, and suits her to a T so there’s nothing to complain about.

This is a beautiful color on her and the subtle draping and one-shoulder neckline both look great on her.

This is fun & sassy, two things that the red carpet frequently doesn’t see because people are so afraid of ending up on a worst dressed list.

EW Pre-Emmy Party Red Carpet:

I like that the cut and silhouette are prim and ladylike while the eye-catching color is fun and youthful – It’s a great combination.

I love a little white dress when it’s worn right just and this one is pretty spectacular – I love the interesting neckline and bust.

This is a very cute, flattering sheath dress – Someone petite like Ginnifer can really make this style work.

You know me, I’m a sucker for a cute shorts suit. The double-breasted jacket is too perfect and buttoned-up heart print blouse was a great choice.

The 2012 Emmys:

Stunning. Just plain stunning.

She cuts quite a figure in this dress – She’s just oozing old school Hollywood glamour and elegance. J’adore!

This is nothing short of phenomenal – I love the cut, silhouette, and the amazing disco-futuristic fish scale like sequins. She looks amazing!

Miss Tina Fey isn’t one of the women who usually pops into my mind when I think of red carpet all-stars, but this dress is killer. It’s a gorgeous color on her and the embellished neckline is perfect – interesting and unique but not too dramatic.

I love a print on the red carpet and I think this gown is just beautiful. She looks radiant and chic, well done.

When you want drama – You go to Zac Posen. January Jones loves a fashion-forward look and this Posen gown really served up the drama last night. Very few women could have pulled this off but she looks great.

I don’t have the slightest idea who this actress is, but I made an audible “oh” when I saw this gorgeous tangerine number that I knew I should include it!

Clearly Allison is favoring the great Oscar de la Renta right now and I have to say that I fully support that choice in this case. Wow!

Stunning color and I like that between the all-over pleating and the unique neckline it’s not a basic red gown.

Striking color and suits her perfectly. I think that the belt and collar were right on point but where’s her cuff???

What a gorgeous, unique dress. I love the detailing and I’m glad that she held back on the accessories and let the dress take center stage.

She looks great here – It’s a fun, flattering color and the style suits her really well. Good choice. Now change your hair to a color found in nature! :)

Fabulous color! This goes to show you that a killer color can overcome a basic – even boring – style.

Kerry Washington was another sequined stunner this year, her Vivienne Westwood gown definitely have Lucy Liu’s Versace number a run for its money!

I was thrilled by all of the stunning dresses on the red carpet this year – Everyone did such a fabulous job choosing their gowns. But if I had to pick my favorites from the dresses above I think I’d have to go with Lucy Liu in silver Versace, Julianne Moore in yellow Dior, and Allison Williams in green Oscar de la Renta. Well done ladies, well done!
