Denim Dreaming: Distressed, Boyfriend, Skinny – How To Wear Jeans For Spring

Distressed, boyfriend, skinny – We all have our favorite style of jeans that we love to rock and go back to whenever we need a laidback-but-fabulous look. I love how jeans have become the new norm – At least here in San Francisco. You’re never underdressed in jeans and they’re easy to style up if you’re headed out for an evening event.

Denim Dreaming Daytime Styling

Jeans are the perfect look for daytime – Whether you prefer a relaxed fit, something more fitted, or even cropped or rolled jeans.

My favorite go-to for a daytime jeans look is a slim fitting pair of jeans paired with a cropped or boyfriend length blazer and a simple black, white, or striped tee. I wear some version of this uniform for most of my after work adventures and weekend meetings.

Denim Dreaming: Nighttime Styling

Making your denim nighttime ready is all about extras – You need to be sure to add a killer pair of heels or booties, a statement piece of jewelry, and a chic little bag.

I love how white jeans look during the Summer – It’s a classic! I mean, Jackie O wore them on Italian vacations for years with a simple black tee and ballet flats.

Not sure what kind of denim to break out for your night out on the town – Why not give a pair of embellished jeans a try?

Denim Dreaming: Weekend Styling

Depending on your weekend plans, denim can be just what the fashionista ordered. 🙂 It’s the perfect time to try out a pair of colored, printed or embellished jeans.

An easy, casual weekend look for me includes cropped jeans or denim capris – My favorite pair are these Paige Denim beauties – And my can’t-live-without-it Splendid tee.

Beauty, Skin Care & Make-Up

Spring is my favorite season to refresh my Beauty, Skin Care & Make-Up routines – It’s a great time to try new products, mix up your routine, and give your skin some much-needed TLC after the cold, harsh Winter months.

This year I have a few fun changes and goals in mind:

(1) Amping up moisture with coconut, macadamia nut,and argan oils for skin and hair. I feel like Winter weather is especially rough on treated tresses so resuscitating my mane is a big priority.

(2) Adding color! Nothing says “Spring” to me quite like bold hues so I’m spicing up my make-up collection with some navy and purple liquid liners and all coral everything! Random fact: When I had my colors done with my natural blonde hair coral was my top color, and as a redhead it still is! 🙂

(3) I’m also going to start an oil pulling trial – I’ve heard amazing things and am completely intrigued. I’ll keep you updated on the results!

Spring 2014 Fashion

While it’s true that we’re still kicking the snow of the Polar Vortex off our boots, that doesn’t mean retailers and designers aren’t already plying us with beautiful new goods for Spring.

There are some Spring classics that’ll be on repeat season-after-season – Stripes, florals, and bright colors among them – But you can easily modernize your Spring 2014 fashion by picking up a few key new pieces and accessories.

Outerwear is one of my favorite things about fashion – There’s little that I love more than a beautifully cut coat, jacket, or blazer. For me Spring is all about cropped outerwear and this season the fashion industry and I are 100% on the same page. Biker jackets, blazers, Letterman style jackets, cropped embellished pieces, and more.

On my Must Buy list are this TopShop biker jacket & this fabulous Caren Forbes Winter White Blazer. Love the asymmetrical zipper!

From mid-calf length skirts to over-the-knee shorts, this spring is going to be all about the oh-so-flattering midi length.

Tip: Try pairing a fitted piece like a crop top or boxy waist-length jacket with the longer silhouette on the bottom for a flattering proportion.

This midi length tulle skirt is at the very top of my Must Have list for Spring! I mean, does it get any better than this?

Black and white with an eye-catching color thrown in will always be my favorite “color combination.” And with all of the fabulous black & white prints out for Spring, I’m sure that this will be my go-to all season long.

Whether you’re adding a cobalt blue blazer to your dress or pairing red pumps with your Little Black Dress or even a bold coral lip – Just find a way to work some color into your life.

My personal favorites for Spring so far are these Kendra Scott Lillian Drop Earrings from CUSP, this bright green MICHAEL Michael Kors messenger bag & these yellow Nine West Ankle Strap Heels.

Take some risks and have some fun with beauty this Spring. Too nervous to wear a bold new lipstick to the office? Give this fun trend a try on your next vacation or weekend away – It’s the perfect chance to experiment!

My Spring will be spent wearing this Tarte coral blush and my favorite bold, easy to wear Korres Mango Butter Lipcolor.

Your feet will love you this Spring – From menswear inspired flats to chunky, thick heeled pumps, to rubber soled tennis shoe style flats, this season might as well be called Happy Feet!

{Tory Burch Dylan Oxford Flats, Nicholas Kirkwood Suede Pumps & YRF Panda Flats}

Menswear inspired shoes – From lace-up Oxfords to smoking slippers to brogues, all with a sweet, feminine twist. Try these Tory Burch Dylan Oxford Flats, they’ll spice up any look!

Thick heeled pumps – A little bit retro and a lot more comfortable, these practical heels will have you loving your dressed-up looks all the more! These Nicholas Kirkwood Suede Pumps with a gold heel should fit the bill perfectly – Gorgeous color, eye-catching texture, and a killer embellished heel – What more could a girl ask for?

Colorful, fun flats – Think neon piping, eye-catching animal prints, and fun embellishments like these amazing Panda Flats from Asos.

Alyssa Nicole: Spring 2014

There are few things that could have gotten me out of my cozy, warm apartment during last weekend’s rainstorm. One of those things is Miss Alyssa Nicole. In a short dress no less!

Saturday was the launch of Alyssa Nicole’s Spring 2014 collection – A round-up of sleek, minimalist looks that mark a departure for the designer. The bright colors and retro silhouettes from last season were left behind as she presented chic, wearable Spring separates for the girl on the go.

Each piece both made a statement in and of itself, and was versatile enough to mix and match all season. Not an easy feat I assure you.

The fabrics ranged from raw silk to linen to tweed – All with an easy grace that’ll make them the go-to piece in your closet for Spring.

How am I envisioning these pieces for Spring?

The crochet and lace crop tops will be perfect with a flowy maxi skirt or thrown over a bikini with shorts for your next warm weather vacation, while the breezy tops can be worn with jeans or a slim fitting skirt, and easily topped with a structured blazer for a nighttime look.

What am I coveting most?

The white-on-white gingham collared shirt dress has my name written all over it and I can already see myself in the chic little tweed suit. I adore cropped pants with a classic suit!
