Things I Love: Holiday Edition

There are some things that I love year-around and some things that pop gloriously into my life during the magical holiday season.

Holiday Tea:

The only thing that brings me as much joy as when canned pumpkin reappears on the grocery store shelves is the appearance of Candy Cane, Pumpkin, Ginger Snap, and Egg Nog tea in my local store. Happiness in a mug!

Brussel Sprouts:

Hear me out. I love Brussel Sprouts. Love. I eat them year around.

However, the only time that I can get anyone else to eat them is around Thanksgiving and Christmas. Which makes me love them even more this time of year.

Candy Cane Everything:

I’m a fan of peppermint anything & everything. My apartment is filled to the brim with candles, air fresheners, cleaning products, beauty products, and anything else that I can get my hands on that’s peppermint, spearmint, Candy Cane, or mint scented. Sadly these products are ONLY available during the holidays so I turn into something of a horder this time of year.

What are YOUR favorite things that come out during the holiday season?

Things I Love: Travel Edition

With traveling and weekend trips being a predominant part of the last month I thought I’d make a special edition of Things I Love Saturday. Today I’m sharing a few of my Can’t-Live-Without-Them travel necessities. From beauty must haves to the little things that just make a trip run smoother.

Oil:

While I’ve been a long time devotee of argan oil and coconut oil, I’ve recently been introduced to another worth-its-weight-in-gold oil. Macadamia nut oil! I immediately went through the two samples I received via BirchBox and splurged on the full-sized version without a second thought.

Luckily I saved the sample bottles so I can refill them for traveling. That’s about as DIY as thing get over here at MCLV Headquarters!

Mini Emergency Kit:

This ingenious little kit includes EVERYTHING you could need in a crisis situation. From a needle & thread and safety pins to deodorant and cleaning wipes. I have about half a dozen of these kits right now and they’re spread out everywhere I could need them – My photo shoot bag, my desk, my purse, my carry-on…

Travel Tip: Invest in one for wedding season. I went through several during last year’s matrimonial gauntlet.Mini-Emergency-Kity

First Aid Kit:

This may sound silly, but I always keep a little first aid kit in my toiletry bag. Get the basic version from Walgreens or Duane Reade and bulk it up with a few little extras. Mine as the obligatory band aids and Neosporin, along with arch supports {if aching feet don’t require first aid then I don’t know what does}, a set of Aerosoles that’ll fit in any heels, Advil, Shout Wipe-And-Go’s, Altoids etc.

What’s always in YOUR suitcase?

Coconut

I’m a total coconut junkie and couldn’t live without all the coconut-based goodies that I use on a daily basis, from cooking oil to my Trader Joe’s coconut body butter that I keep in my bathroom, gym locker, and desk… This week however I made a dangerous new recipe that played on this particular weakness. Dangerous because of how good they were and dangerous because of how quick and easy the recipe was. If you like coconut you MUST try these Coconut Heaven Cupcakes. They are indeed heaven. And don’t panic if you don’t have all of these ingredients, they’re easily adaptable. {Raw, Vegan & Gluten-Free}

I’m in love with the fresh scent and silky finish of this easy drugstore buy – Yes To Grapefruit’s Dark Circle Correcting Eye Cream. I’ve been using it for two weeks and skill smile whenever I take the lid off and smell it!
