Wanderlust: New York State of Mind

After loving every minute of my annual Winter trip to Manhattan I can officially say that I’m in a New York State of Mind. From my favorite restaurants to fun holiday traditions to how I love to spend my time… Check out some of the highlights from this trip each season.

Fashion:

Half the fun of going to New York is pulling out all your gorgeous outerwear and chic layers and killer footwear. You do not half-ass a trip to Manhattan my friends. Even when you feel like your ears will fall off because it’s so cold out!

My hit list this year included by new Sam Edelman Over the Knee Boots – They’re flat and super comfortable to walk in, but still give off just the right amount of sass – And my favorite turtleneck tunic for layering.

Food:

New York has the BEST restaurants. I completely give in to eating out for every meal when I’m in town because I don’t want to miss out. Plus there are tons of delicious, healthy options. Green juice may have taken over San Francisco, but luckily salad spots seem to have converged on New York.

My favorite spots? Blossom and Candle 79. Oh, and Chloe’s Soft Serve {i.e. banana ice cream, I’ve even eaten it while it was snowing!} But even more than just visiting my favorites – What I love about Winter in New York is wandering down the streets, peeking in windows, and unbundling to enjoy a cozy meal in warm spot filled with holiday decorations and happy shoppers.

Fitness:

Working out while I travel is a luxury and New York always delivers. From killer hotel gyms to personal training sessions with celebrity trainer Key Son – There’s always something fun and active to look forward to in NYC.

This year I was dying to try out the Dogpound. Not only is it an innovative fitness haven featuring high intensity conditioning, but it’s also a playground for international models, dancers, and athletes. Fingers crossed that I can get in a training session during my

Wanderlust: Costa Rica Dreaming

Now that April is coming to an end,  I’m starting to day dream about my upcoming trip to Costa Rica next month.

My love of travel is something that I discovered growing up, we got the chance to go on great family vacations to places like the Yucatan and Belize. My life long wanderlust was really solidified though when I moved to Italy at the age of 21 to study art history in Rome, and spent six months traveling around Western Europe solo.

Since my early twenties I’ve had some amazing travel opportunities – Both for pleasure and for work – And have seen some breathtaking sights.

And next up is, you guessed it, Costa Rica!

New York City Street Style: Winter Edition

I’m currently listening to the Love Actually soundtrack while wearing my new thigh high black suede Sam Edelman boots and packing for a weekend on the snowy streets of New York City.

I adore New York year around, but there’s something special about Winter in the Big Apple.

So what’s the first thing I do when I’m getting ready for a trip? I get inspired! I go to Pinterest and search for the city I’m traveling to or the street style I have in mind for my trip.

For this trip, I searched for a couple of things and here were some of my favorite sartorial shots to keep in mind while I’m packing.

Stay tuned to see what I wore for my trip!

Friday Wanderlust: Travel To Do List

I’m a traveler at heart.

When people ask the standard “What would you do if you won the lottery?” question, my first answer is always the same: “Travel.”

In additional to living in Rome during college and traveling extensively before and after my semester abroad, I’ve had the amazing opportunity to travel to a number of countries in Western Europe, South East Asia, and South America.

So what’s left on this girl’s To Do List? So many countries and destinations it’s almost disheartening… I’ll just start with my top five!

{Caesarea from my Wanderlust Pinterest Board}

  1. Turkey – Ephesus, the site of the largest temple of Artemis from antiquity and one of the Wonders of the Ancient world, as well as Troy, Achilles’s tomb, and Istanbul.
  2. Machu Picchu – I’m dying to head down to visit before the government starts closing portions off from tourists.
  3. Petra – Doesn’t sound familiar? Remember those amazing sandy cliffs and hidden chambers from the end of Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade? That’s Petra!
  4. Caesarea – This ancient port city is on the coast of Israel and was built by Herod the Great.
  5. Egypt – There are almost an endless number of sites in Egypt I’d like to visit but the top picks are the Feum District – Where Alexander the Great received the prophecy that he was the son of a God – The Pyramids at Giza, and the ruins of the ancient city of Alexandria.

And yes, I realize that I am a HUGE nerd. I’ve come to terms with that and I kind of like it.

What’s YOUR top destination?
